Is a "alcohol license" == 18+ card in your definition?
*
is an ID that prove u can drink alcohol.
Is just a plain Alcohol Proven ID.

got another way to prove.
Tattoo..
bring your passport and make a tattoo on your hand.
and next time you can go out with that hand without password.
Tattoo are only allow for 18 and above.

it really depends seriously... depending on the person wanna let you in or not and whether they are EXPERINCED enough or not, those experienced ones they have seen much enough to understand and read then they will know it... i tried getting in with my IC before though...

and CROWN might let you in with your IC, but definitely not your malaysian driving license, because they said it's just a piece of LAMINATED PAPER...

ha... the tattoo one, i tried with my credit card though, as only 18+ can have credit cards... but still a NO...

Your Malaysian IC is useless in Australia (and New Zealand. And the UK. And France. And Germany. And Hong Kong. And....), simple as that. I still doh.gif everytime I see another Malaysian try to use their IC to do anything, from opening bank accounts to ordering a drink. And I'm talking about those who I told them, but in the spirit of Malaysia boleh, will they listen?

I agree, carrying your passport around is very dangerous. In QLD, you guys can apply for a 18+ card (http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/Home/Licensing/Card_18_plus/How_to_apply/) which sets you back A$23.05. Don't need the hassle of getting a drivers licence.

helloo.. i'll be going to aussie in july. i just need to clarify something, will students who come in during the july intake, be enrolled in the same classes as those who came in february?

if so, then wouldn't i be, like, left behind, since the lecturer won't teach what has been taught in the past 6 months?

=S confused.

Nope, those in feb will moved on to new courses, unless some repeat it again and so happen your uni offered the same course in the 2nd sem(not all courses are offered in 1st and 2nd sem). Anyway if you do engineering it's kinda disadvantage to enrol in the 2nd half of the year since you have limited course options.

I didn't know tattoos work. If they do, I am so getting one (in fact, perfect justification for getting one) biggrin.gif
Is that why all the kids here love to get tattoos once they hit 18?

yea just like what others already mentioned, GENERALLY the durations for most subjects are only 1 semester, which is 6 months or 4 months to be more exact. so every new semester is the new start for every subject, and the lecturers will teach everyone starting from first chapter...

so since you said there are full, it doesnt mean that so many people repeating, but it also means that there are many people like you, gonna take this subject in the 2nd semester... and for uni, usually you can choose when to do your subjects as long as you pass it anytime in your cert... UNLESS some subjects where they are LINKED and you have to do according to the sequence, else you are free to take anytime... but i know some courses like meds, you have to pass all subjects in order to move into the next semester or so...

i'm willing help u out with additional infos on Perth, also on Curtin, Curtin Business School !  biggrin.gif

currently doing my 3rd year in Commerce (IT & IS) in Curtin..  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif
anyone else from Perth?? hehehe

Hi. I'm going to take my master in Film in Australia next year Feb 2009.

1st choice: Uni of Melbourne
2nd choice: Curtin (to jakesean, do you know about the Film and TV course in Curtin? Can tell me? Thanks.)
3rd choice: Uni of Sydney

Any other people who can give some comments on the course offered by these universities? I heard Victoria College of Arts in Unimelb is good, and my experience is that the entry requirement is higher too. It also warn the applicants that studies in VCA is hectic. blink.gif For Usyd also not bad, but the campus of the Art School is not in the main campus, may have to travel a lot if the major facilities (eg: library) is in the main campus. For Curtin, I am afraid that the course is too generic... because I have been working in the TV industry for 3 years now, so I do not want to repeat the overall broadcast education course. I am actually looking into more specialized film crafting, hopefully I can be a film director, or at least work in the real filming industry (they make films and movies that we watch in cinemas). By the way, I am doing a POSTGRADUATE COURSEWORK, means I don't do full thesis or research, but do hands-on film making project, which is why I am also concern with the facilities and technical aids provided by the universities.

Alright, all the long grandma stories, just to make myself clearer. Hope to hear from you guys. Thanks~ nod.gif

no worries. my advice go early there, probably 2 weeks before the sem starts, and most importantly TALK to your course adviser, ones you settle in the city and etc talk talk to your course adviser don't simply enrolled by the book. They(course advisers) are the people in charge regarding your course, so you can ask them anything under the sun.
And btw if classes are full doesn't mean that some are repeating for 2nd round, sry abt that.
Don't worry too much. If you go uni i guess most knowledges that you should know by then would be from pre-u. And btw if you check online where you can see the subjects and courses offered by your uni you can see the Pre-Requisite, really really important stuff.
Anyway cheers.

Not sure about others, for mine, 1 years = 2 sems = 8 Units.
Yes.. if you got too much time.. you can take 2 unit per sems or 1 unit per sems if you like.
If you got 6 left, take 3 : 3 for a years tongue.gif
