I see, that's nice. I also heard that the new iphone 3G will be cheaper than the current iphone is it?
*
This new 3G iPhone will be the first iPhone Apple Australia is bringing in officially. But to answer your question, yes it is indeed cheaper than the previous gen in the states.

@haya: Are your sources reliable? Man that would be really great if they are gonna sell it separately without contract rclxms.gif

Optus and Vodafone have said that they would sell it prepaid.

But that will DEFINITELY bump the price up alot. The USD $199 is because they umm.. have to go on those data usage plans of $20 a month.. with that american company ( I forgot the name)

PS: The data usage here would kill us sad.gif

There are many sources, with more half-truths than any concrete information. However, I base my statements on an article in The Australian, and The Age.

THE next-generation 3G Apple iPhone will be available in Australia on prepay plans without a contract when it is released here next month.

Both Optus and Vodafone – the first carriers to announce an iPhone offering – today confirmed they would offer the handset on a prepay plan, a key concern among the phone's target demographic.

Vodafone spokesman Greg Spears said customers would be able to buy an iPhone outright and purchase credit without being locked into a contract.

http://www.theage.com.au/national/iphone-s...lr.html?page=-1
QUOTE
Customers who prefer prepaid plans will be able to buy the iPhone upfront

A unlocked, untied Iphone will set you back at least $700, if this is any indication: http://apcmag.com/Content.aspx?id=2441

In any case, Vodafone has sold the iphone unlocked in Italy and UK, so there is a good indication it may be the same in Australia.

But enough of the iphone. Personally its overpriced. Sure its good, but I put it on the same level as paying $30 for a Stella McCartney branded water bottle. You're paying for the brand, the cool factor.

@SeeD: Books can also be ordered through Amazon.com. I ordered most of my books through the net after my 1st semester. Even adding shipping costs, it still works out to be cheaper than the university bookshop. Case in point: my networking textbook. Uni bookshop = $98. Amazon.com = $48 + $4 for shipping. And as far as I could see, it was as good as the ones from the uni bookshop.

Granted, not all books you need can be bought online.

@s373n || KVReninem: reports also say that the iphone will also be sold without a contract in Australia. My NZ friends are already asking me. happy.gif

did i say WRONG? it was just my assumption based on that... dont you assume that this girl is a guy when you can only see from the back that she has a guy's hairstyle, guy's clothing?

anyway, about textbooks... i think my textbooks were all so new as i hardly touched textbooks, your lecturers usually ask you to have your LECTURE NOTES and tutorial materials... they rarely refer anything from the textbooks... and i am sure you can find those information that you need from other books or even google...

The need for textbooks are based on your course at uni. Some courses "recommend" text books but are not usually required and some courses require you to read extra from textbooks to do well.

Your course may not require any textbooks, but mine certainly does. I get a different lecturer each week and each one recommends a different text book-which they base their lecture notes on.

Of course, it is not necessary to buy the books since there are plenty of copies in the library-you just need to be quick before it gets borrowed out

weeeeeeeeeeeee so MED students DO need textbooks... but since you get different lecturer each week and each asking for different textbook, so do you get all of them? but I THOUGHT most of the textbooks have the same information as the information should be constant though? no? unless they want the specific case study or exercises?

I just borrow the books which I need from the library and read up the parts which I'm supposed to. Not all med textbooks say the same thing... I can't find biochem stuff in a anatomy book or pharmacology in embryology.

Well ...
Nokia, SE, HTC, and many others ... are just giving us all the features that their machine can't support 100%. Which in the end, provide us with lagness while using their machine. Look at the Nokia's symbian crap ... laugh.gif

Apple on the other hand, throws away all the crap software that are not useful, implement all the useful software(well not all as I don't look at shares). In the end provide us with a nice user friendly interface that really interacts.

I once entered a HTC shop shopping for my cousin's new HP. While entering the alphabets through the stylus, it took like a second for the alphabet to load. And that's not going to help when I need to type like 200 alphabets in a sms.
Having to said that, Apple's on screen keyboard is nowhere better ... laugh.gif My thumbs are too big for the small keyboard doh.gif
But still iPhone provide me with better user experience tongue.gif

Meh to all those who gets sucked into buying the iPhone. It's overhyped and when things are overhyped, they tend to get boring.
