Woooo Time passes so fast. Going to Sydney on 8th July with Jetstar.

Erm, how many winter clothes should I take? I heard Sydney can go as low as 2'C at night .. doh.gif

I think I've took enough stationary that might last me around a semester or two depending on usage. Hopefully will be enough. Especially fulscrap papers. Since I heard the papers at Aussie is bad laugh.gif

What else should I bring ?

other than stationery, u should look into one jacket at least to tide you over until you can get a proper jumper or jacket.
Do not attempt to bring in food if you do not know what you are not allowed to bring in.
If can, get your textbooks locally in Malaysia as the cost is way way lower than here. By way lower, it can be 3-5 times cheaper. (Ex. Compare textbook of MYR80 versus AUD130 here)
Don't bother attempting to save money by bringing your own printer. The costs of printers here are very low, can get an All-In-One for less than AUD100 and you would probably save at most MYR30 or so if you bring one in. The ink and/or toner on the hand you should bring in due to the cost differences.

Well I have lots of jackets ... which I have no idea can cover me from the cold or not.

Can I ask how many layers of clothes you wear during winter?

Textbooks? How do I know which textbooks to bring ? @_@ ...
Well my aunt there already got printer. I'll be sharing with them once I reach there.

Nah, it doesn't go as low as 2C here in Sydney, unless you are talking about some outer western areas. The lowest it could get would probably be around 5-7, but that's only during late night, daytime expect it to be around 10C.

Jackets wise, it would really depend on how well you could tolerate cold. Usually a thicker jacket (but not those really thick ones, you don't need that) with a long sleeve shirt inside will be sufficient, but that's for me though. If you need warmer stuff just add in a thermal wear and it should be pretty much sufficient.

You can check your text list here, just search using your subject code. But I doubt the list would be out by 8th of July though.

Textbook Lists for Session 2 2008 not yet available

At this time of the year, we are working with academics to get the books you need
for your subjects in Session 2.

We expect that this information will be available on this page from about 14th July 2008.

We don't recommend buying any textbooks for most subjects until that time, as late changes are often made.

I'm screwed laugh.gif

i would recommend you to get a normal jacket which can last for all year round *except summer when you dont need a jacket*... then for different weather just wear more or lesser layers...

and i notice that you SHOULD be a girl... just a note, those thick or big bomber jackets make you look fatter and not so fashionable... =P the layering is IN... HHAHAHHAHAHAH... *ignore me if you feel like it*

@SeeD: Books can also be ordered through Amazon.com. I ordered most of my books through the net after my 1st semester. Even adding shipping costs, it still works out to be cheaper than the university bookshop. Case in point: my networking textbook. Uni bookshop = $98. Amazon.com = $48 + $4 for shipping. And as far as I could see, it was as good as the ones from the uni bookshop.

Granted, not all books you need can be bought online.

@s373n || KVReninem: reports also say that the iphone will also be sold without a contract in Australia. My NZ friends are already asking me. happy.gif

@eRiCCa: what's wrong with a guy liking girls cartoons?! We don't say much when you gals dress up in baggy pants, short hair and all.

did i say WRONG? it was just my assumption based on that... dont you assume that this girl is a guy when you can only see from the back that she has a guy's hairstyle, guy's clothing?

anyway, about textbooks... i think my textbooks were all so new as i hardly touched textbooks, your lecturers usually ask you to have your LECTURE NOTES and tutorial materials... they rarely refer anything from the textbooks... and i am sure you can find those information that you need from other books or even google...

You do not have to buy a textbook unless specifically told to do so. Most courses do not require a textbook and you don't really have that much time to refer to the textbook most times.
