As everyone knows, Australian and Malaysian Education system are significantly different. I am very nervous and considering ANU and other Aus uni. I wonder if I can cope the my study in Aus if I accept the offer. I worry that I would perform badly in Aus eventhough performing well in Malaysia. I am granted 2 years' credit and would start in year 3 if I accept ANU or other Aus uni. As I may take study loan which would be my future debt, I worry that if cant perform, my future in Aus will be gone and ended up with bad debt. So, the dilemma is letting go well performance in Malaysia and obtaining bad result in Aus ....

Studying oversea is an excellent and great exposure for u. Furthermore, u can gain some experience that cant other people get by studying in our own country. As long as u want to study, u can get and success in your study i think. Its not to difficult here. As long as u come to class and tutes.. sure can pass. (i like to skip my lecture whistling.gif - My bad) hahaha

From what I understand, you're trying to get into Engineering in ANU. What field of Engineering are you thinking of pursuing, and what are you currently doing now that will give you "2 years' credit"?

I am offered a common engineering in ANU. I just finished my diploma in mechanical engineering in local ipta, UTM with well cgpa. Therefore, I am awarded 2years' credits. I worry if I let go this and choose to further in ANU, I may not able to perform due to 1) it is an top ranked uni which has different teaching and learning approcahes 2) different explosure and I may face so-called cultural shock. I need some times to adapt it yet the time is limited as I'll be starting in year 3. So, I would treat this is dilemma as the risk is very much higher as compared to local sweat.gif

If there are efforts, I wish not to score worst, at least the feeling would not like damping the money ... I would be happy if I could be in the middle, but I wonder if I could as this uni is top ranking uni .... Actually, how would the result be if efforts are there ... notworthy.gif

ANU is ranked-highly for its research work as it is a research-intensive university. Its teaching standards are on par with other Go8 universities, so it doesn't make ANU any more difficult to pass than any other equivalent universities.

Basically, if you are consistent in your studies, you should have no problems. Common courses are not designed for the gifted (unless they specifically state so) as 99% of students are mainstream undergrads who are just trying to complete their professional degrees.

I got mine during orientation week on my enrollment day, they gave me the card and contact details. But I heard from my friend the OSHC only cover 50% of the doctor charges.

erm private doctors yea but i cant remember the percentage.

i tore my tendon during a game of basketball last year, my GP bills (went to uni health services) and surprise surprise, x ray bill, were fully covered by OSHC. only thing not covered is the medication, which is to be expected

not really.. i was told that if the medication is prescribed by the GP, and if its above $30 or something, not sure how much, OSHC will cover some percentage of that.. additional infos can be found on OSHC's website..

and OSHC do not cover dental fees.. so for those who are suffering from toothaches, beware! i paid $130 just for scalling.. $40 for consultation, the rest for scalling... vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

Oh I have 1 question to UNSW students about course enrollment

I'm from the faculty of Engineering ...
I have to take 2 General Education subjects ... (Two 3 UOC Subjects = 6 UOC)
Can I take General Education Subjects from other 2 Faculties ?
eg. 1 from Faculty of Commerce and 1 from Faculty of Arts ?

Is it a must to take 1 GE course from your own Faculty ??

I believe you are not supposed to take any GenEds offered by your own faculty.

Yeah, you are not allowed to take GenEds from your own faculty. However having said that, sometimes you will not be able to take certain subjects from certain faculties either, for example, commerce students are not allowed to take certain GenEds from the law faculty. I am not sure about engineering students, it's best if you check the Handbook for more information.

Try to go to your university's health centre, because they will usually make the claim directly to OSHC, so you don't have to do it yourself (At least, that is what they do in the UniMelb)

As limeuu said, they don't really like to give scholarships to students studying medicine/dentistry because they want your money more, and they know that international students will always pay to get in. *shrugs*
I did received scholarships, but they aren't from my uni.

Aww crap now I'm so screwed dry.gif
1. The course that I'm supposed to take this Semester is FULL. What should I do ?
I know I'm so late to enroll because there's a lot of complication in my course plan doh.gif

2. The General Education needs 6 UOC right, can I do 3 UOC now and do 3 more in the upcoming semester ?

3. What is wrong with my enrollment ? I click "Enroll to all courses" But then there's this "Error:Requirements not met for class, student not enrolled" came out. (Refer to attachment)
