Theory is theory...but people are not gonna hire you to perform if your theory is super strong but your playing is nowhere near your super theory.

sounds like a flame laugh.gif anyways...i play by listening too,and i learn guitar on my own, occasional guidance by friends...i dont think we should argue bout who is retards or how bad retards are,the fact is it is the existance of these ppl that makes you different than them, its their ability and curse as well...try taking a look at it in a different perception instead of cursing them laugh.gif

paramore...so many piano teachers struggle to play even 'Happy birthday to you' without making mistakes. Why? cos their excuse is that they dont have the score for this simple song! LOL!

Theory is theory...but people are not gonna hire you to perform if your theory is super strong but your playing is nowhere near your super theory.

True but it is another 50/50 thing. Pop music teacher will have that problem. I can able to play this song on any major key, with that I can able to teach my students to play on that particular string if they are used to one string. But of course, I must teach them on all the strings someday.

Theory is theory, it does not help in performing (just a little) but for directing, composing and arranging is very important. Theory is an understanding subject for practical musician, it is like a second subject to understand music into another level. If this musician can perform well but he/she do not know how to properly count a quintet rhythm, it is just a shame.

icy... it is very common disease for many piano, violin, cello, flute etc teachers. They are hopeless without scores. They can play those super terror hard classical pieces but cant even play simple songs by ear! That's what amazes me. LOL!

Sure...some of them can play by ear too....but the number is very much lower comparatively....perhaps like 1%! Plus...even if they can play by ear, it's nowhere close to the level they produce when playing classcial piece with a book in front of them. That's reality.

Mr 'below average' is so sensitive...and immediately took offence that I called him a retard. Well, I didnt. Show me any of my post that said so. You may think you are no retard cos you can do this and do that. That's fine. I'm happy 4u. Keep it up! thumbup.gif

Play some simple stuff. Find a rock band called Yellowcard.

Well, depending on who wants to be the conductor. biggrin.gif

Hmm..Final Fantasy soundtracks are not easy. Hoho, I am from Beethoven to Flo Rida.

Well, only when I have the time, the money to buy the music and the people to listen to me. sweat.gif

Well, for Marilyn Manson I do not know which genre he belongs to, it is so mixed up and devil-ish. Supermassive Blackhole is an album title from a band called Muse. For your headache, you better stay with Final Fantasy music.

Because maybe your teacher fed up of the performers did not perform well and ignore his/her advise.
