QUOTE(little ice @ Sep 2 2008, 03:53 PM) if you live in Kl/Selangor area, pay a visit to Yamaha HQ, Kelana Jaya (along LDP, heading puchong direction). Ohhh.. that one. I thought that is only for wholesale?I am looking for SV-120 anyway.. ![]() I just need an amplifier to get that working? Or I need to buy a pre-amp for it? I am such a noob in these electronics. |

QUOTE(kimmie @ Sep 2 2008, 12:56 PM) Ohhh..okay, I will to have a look there.QUOTE(empire @ Sep 3 2008, 05:44 PM) Paramore, these cheap electric violins do not sound good...unless you are willing to pay A LOT more. Cheap Electric Violins leaves much to be desired...with its fake violin tone. You'll need a really good acoustic amp to sound good. Chance are the amp itself will cost more than the violin! QUOTE(little ice @ Sep 3 2008, 07:57 PM) definitely not, there're tons of selections of yamaha products, as well as lots of classrooms and a big concert hall. Ohhh..I seeeeeee. I thought like no any other people can able to get in there. don't get the SV series, you should get the EV series, sound much better. you can connect to PA system directly as claimed by yamaha website, but i think a better preamp will give better sound. Actually I am just starting to play in a band which I wanted to amplify my violin. I choose the SV because I saw the string quartet band "bond" uses it and it sounds good from their recording. But I have not try them before, I am clueless now. Budget wise. |

QUOTE(little ice @ Sep 4 2008, 12:06 AM) the "bong" sounds good on the SV because their albums has been through lots of high end gear processing, mixing and mastering. and their live shows are backed by good sound engineers too with good gears. Meaning there is no budget wise electric violin? i've played with one, the sound is awful. there's no much sound quality to speak maybe due to the cheaper made body, as well as less quality pickup (in fact i think there's only 1 pickup under the bridge). the EV series has 1 pickup on each string, and has solid body too. in comparison, zeta violin used by vannesa mae has 2 pickups on each string, equal of 8 pickups on the violin. like what empire said, you probably going to stick with a sound that you're less happy with, or invest a lot on gears. The EV series will cost at least RM6000? |

QUOTE(kerazul @ Sep 21 2008, 05:25 AM) Hi there everyone, I play in an orchestra in Puchong. Want to join? Other than that, you can go for MPO audition.I was wondering if there is any community orchestras in Selangor or even in Malaysia at all. Have been itching to audition for one for quite some time now. Playing alone is... well... lonely. |

QUOTE(kerazul @ Sep 21 2008, 07:13 PM) Cool! So how do I go about auditioning to join? Where are your rehearsals? I may not be able to join immediately as my finals are around the corner. Soonest would be November. I do not know, maybe you can give him a call or something.I'm really excited. Hahaha... The rehearsals are nearby IOI Mall Puchong. I will tell you where exactly if you want. |

I am using a standard student violin. It is three years old and I started with this violin. There is a lot scratches but.. I love my own violin compare with those new ones that costs more than RM4, 000.
Old instruments are better sometimes. |

LoL!
I am looking forward for a handmade instrument next few years when I am getting better. China made violins costs around RM1, 500 are good too, I have tried those and might be buying one. If I got the bucks, I will save it until around RM6, 000 and buy a German handmade ones. Keep in mind to play it everyday to make the violin season and sounds better. |

QUOTE(icyfawkes @ Sep 24 2008, 12:59 PM) its ok, I am a college student studying design. Thanks to my parents, I could not study music. I attend music school all by myself. I have plans to study for music after my current course, so right now I am studying music history in the mean time. My point is..keep your dreams alive.how i wish i could be a musician instead of making music as my hobby... i heard singapore have alot of good ones, but usually above 15k there is actually german handmade for 6k here in KL? About buying violins, I heard there is RM6, 000 German handmade but I do not know whether it is a genuine or not. |

QUOTE(icyfawkes @ Sep 24 2008, 01:38 PM) the hardest part... I am working + studying. Well well, time management. I confirmed my future career is music.aint easy to do that, especially when you are working...for me,commitment sometimes kill dreams i've got alot of friends who are in the design field, very intense, but i always believe that if you really like the music, theres nothing stopping you to it from what i observe, new germans are usually above 10k++,if the german is really 6k,dude you hit the jackpot man... Well, I think the German violins I mention maybe it is not genuine. |

True, I would check the genuine wood thru the f-hole everytime when I am looking at the violins at stores.
Last time the seller told me that he has a China machine-made violin that is nice, the violin has varnish oil finish with the label handmade in Germany by a luthier. The seller admit that it is not a genuine. Oh ya, it goes for RM1, 500. Nice looking violin for novice player I would recommend. I heard some other violinist says there is a violin shop ic KLCC City Square. Anyone know anything about the shop? I need the address.. |
