Hi guys, can anyone of you recommend me a shop where i can change my violin strings and bridge and provides violin tuning? I learned violin last time for about 2 years before i stopped to further my studies, and now i wanted to play my violin again and its terribly out of tune, did try tuning it using the online violin tuner but i think i'm suck at it, coz no matter how i tune it, its just doesnt sound right..

Hi guys. I'd like to take up the electric violin later this year... is it recommended to start with a normal violin first? Any recommendations for shops/classes in KL?

IMO, always start learning with a normal violin as electric violins are made to imitate traditional violins.

Well, I normally use Electric Violin only for gigs and performances with my students.
You can check out some pictures here @ www.kiddyspot.com/thecat

Other than that, use an acoustic violin. It definitely sound more romantic too!

Hi do add me to your list of violin players. I have owned 6 violins at various times (only 2 left now) and have probably one of the oldest violins in the country which I bought overseas.

Having a very old instrument does not mean it will sound good. Just as there are good and bad new instruments...same goes for old instruments.

The sound is way above average, though not excellent. The physical appearance is not so good though. I'd wish the thing would smell better.

There are way too many Violinists in the world. Not enough Violists and Cellists. The most in demand now are Violinists and Cellists in Malaysia. In Malaysia there are so many Violinists....nothing surprising anymore.

Be proud that you play Viola. Just make sure you can read alto clef properly la.hehehe....
