Hi Kimmie, is Euro Music Distributor S/B at City Squre, Jln Tun Razak shifted? I've been calling 03-2164 2389 for few weeks - keeps on ringing but no reply. Wanted to send my violion for "check-up" & realign the bow strings as I'm keen to pick up violin again after long rest. Enquire music centres before where they recommend a new bow at RM90-RM120 instead of fixing. Acceptable?

QUOTE(little ice @ May 15 2009, 10:06 AM) euro music moved to sri hartamas shopping center. Thank you, Little Ice. I don't even remember to call it hair for the bow as I thought it's named string. Neglected my violin for too long period. if you mean you want some new hair for your bow, it's around RM100+-. if something is wrong with the bow, better buy a new one, better if you willing to spend some RM200 at least to buy a new bow. rm1000 bow is pretty standard among most local violinists. your 1st teacher is your tutor, your 2nd tutor is a good violin, and the 3rd tutor is a good bow. spend more on violin/bow will allow you to dicover more. Actually there's no breakage to the bow & I'm only interested to change all the loosen hairs. I'm just afraid that upon changing to a new bow, it does not match to my violin - fr colour to wood texture. Mine is a Korea violin. Is it worth to just change the hairs for RM100+- instead of getting a new one for RM90-RM120? The music centres seem to favour the option of getting a new one. |

"am i willing to learn how to teach?" "am i willing to deal with kids?". if you have doubts, ask your teacher about his/her opinions on how to teach, and remember to treat your teacher a nice meal for that. |

Hi all!
I would like to ask if it will difficult for an adult without proper music background/foundation to learn violin? I have musical lessons in primary but sad to say, due to family issue, I wasn't allowed to pick up any proper classes on musical instruments. And those lessons from schools, I think I've returned a large majority of it back to my teacher. Would appreciate feedbacks. Thank you. |

an update of the shop Euro Music, they've moved to the jalan imbi, just few buildings next to the CK music, upstairs. they've also closed down the sri hartamas branch, and city square is renovating for 2 years so they're also forced to move out. perhaps they want to focus on just 1 shop instead of 2 or more.
their new number is 03-21440188. i find most of their stuffs are nicely priced, in fact some of them are cheaper than what's priced else where. Added on May 28, 2009, 1:18 pm QUOTE(feyhime @ May 28 2009, 10:59 AM) Hi all! it's never too late to start to learn violin, it's a plus if you at least can read the music notations, namely taugehs. the big questions are:I would like to ask if it will difficult for an adult without proper music background/foundation to learn violin? Thank you. 1. do you have childrens to take care? 2. do you have time to practice? 3. do you have the motivation to practice? 4. what is your goal to learn violin? the 4th question above is most important, many people stopped halfway because they simply don't have a goal and eventually stop. you must have a goal, and that's the core of the motivation to practice. the rest are actually pretty much lame excuses - you can watch movie, drama, surf internet, but you don't have time to practice, it doesn't make sense, unless you don't even have time for entertainments. Nope! 2. Yeap, my weekends are free most of the time. 3. I am pretty dicipline so I don't think practise will be a problem. I used to practise playing Glockenspiel daily for my school's mini orchestra band. 4. I've always like violin (for some reason I feel sorta ... 'connected' to the melodies it produce? don't know how to put it into words) for many years but wasn't able to learn it. I would love to play for an orchestra but I know it won't be easy. |

Haha, looks like you're the same as me. I just started learning the violin 3 months back from zero and I'm 24. I am free during the weekends only as I have to work. I try to practice everyday but before 10 pm (neighbours need sleep ya know?), never did get myself to buy the violin mute. But for myself I have no interest in playing for an orchestra, my goal is to be able to play songs such as those you hear on the radio on the violin 1. Nope! 2. I will want to know as much as I can before I really start so that I know what to expect. Don't want to quit halfway out of inconvinience. |
