Frequent movements on the eggs would kill it as the embryo would drown in my experience.
The size gap is quite big, even if its a female i dont think she will outgrowth the male by that much.

If i m not mistaken, u can move the eggs, but make sure the position of the egg is the same, some ppl mark the top of the egg b4 moving them so that it got the right position

not that simple bro... chelonian eggs are sensitive, otherwise i'd employ the 'no-substrate' method all this while to hatch my eggs smile.gif

you are right about marking the top, but many other factors had to taken into consideration. e.g. handling with bare hands, wrong humidity, wrong temperature, vibration.. etc etc... can ruin eggs. but the most important thing is the eggs have to be fertile in the first place (this is where diet and husbandry methods take precedence)

uzairi, any more orange monster eggs from your side?

hi all
i have found a rare RES in the internet...
These exquisite Turtles represent many years of carefully selective breeding techniques. The Caramel Slider is a morph of the commonly bred Red Ear Slider. It is an amazing feat when a breeder is capable of illustrating all desirable traits while leaving out the traits that are not so desirable. The end result is certainly a beautiful Turtle. The Caramel Slider exhibits a range of carapace colorations that vary from a light yellow to beige with each scute being outlined in black. Their skin tones are like nothing that has ever been seen before. It can range from a light shade of pink to almost a lavender hue. They exhibit a certain level of transparency to their skin due to these very light skin pigments. A Caramel Slider’s eyes demonstrate a brilliant shade of blue on the iris and pupils that are a deep shade of red. With out a doubt a Caramel Slider would make any Rare Turtle collection complete.

Is there any cahnce we can found it in malaysia???
i dont think so...
even the albino morph n pastel also very difficult to find..hehehehe

chance to find it here? it boils down to the amount of money you're willing to pay.

and although you can't find it at pet shops here, the same cannot be said for private collection.

is albino RES that difficult to find? nope, pasar pudu also got la... 1.2k only.

i also got many, many melanistic RES from there LOL...

Yeah.. I also know. Start from young I did feed them with calcium supplement. But I did read from some websites that food overfeeding might cause pyramiding too. I did start to control the food intake.. but since pyramiding cannot be reverse.. what I can only do is prevent them becomes even worst. However I do believe genetic may influence pyramiding speed, as I got 2 Stars, both is being fed with the same diet but on their own food tray. The male one has more pyramiding than the female.

Anyway.. both is very healthy now, and very anxious awaiting my female tort to reach mating size now. Now she is nearing 5 inches in SCL.

my advice is just stick tp tropical species loike elongated opr red footed. star, pancake, radiated, sulcate etc will surely die in our humidity over time. Donty trust all the lies by the pet shop or sellers as they just want to offlead their stock. When u buy these s\desert tortoise like star etc you're just putting them in misery, then they become sluggish, get RNS and die. Even the big ones will die, cos theyre just wild caught, then smuggled here into an alien climate, bacteria etc, not to mention stress during the journey. if the seller says that he has kept a star for a long time then show photographic and actual animal proof of husbandry over the years , size, diet, growth, medication etc. i bet most of them unscrupulous conmen cant even do that.

Not all will surely die but do agree that some will and in the wrong hand( inexperience one especially ) most if not all will !!

I know of many growing up just fine and some even managed to breed !!

The longest LTC star I know of is turning 18 years this year in captivity !!

sorry bro, you might have good intentions but your statement is tad too incorrect and bordering on bias. you are basically pointing out that all those tortoises will surely die in our climate, a statement which is wrong wrong wrong.

none of those species you mentioned are DESERT tortoises (research more). besides radiated are practically super adaptable that only the worst husbandry would kill them. sulcata are tough SOBS (even old couple in cold French mountainside could raise it). star and pancake are harder, but all can be acclimatised with proper husbandry, although not recommended for beginner.

i partly agree with this part, and yeah many conmen but they could only trick impulse buyers who hadn't done any prior research. and you must've heard of CB specimens, haven't you?
