QUOTE(camillenoir @ Oct 3 2008, 09:51 PM) even collection of local species are impossible to complete, since their status on CITES (LOL) prevent them from being reared. play safe Not really...if im not mistaken there are some people keeping yni...man...i admire these people...

Does it make any difference? I mean...some sellers are selling legally and some are not...the buyers are just the buying without the knowledge...most of the buyers dont even know whether it is illegal to keep certain types of tortoises... Speaking of which...I really hate those sellers who sell the TTTs for the sake of selling...for the sake of profit...without paying attention to the environment and the conditions of the TTTs...bloody unethical at all... Imagine that turtles are being kept in a pale without water...tortoises being kept in a captivity without any appropriate tools... Its very heartbreaking when I see these scenarios

QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Oct 16 2008, 11:56 AM) You assume wrong !! They are very adaptable both diet and husbandary wise !! I know of a friend who keep a few ( from hatchlings ) just that I dont dare to try !! True, and they eat almost everything you throw at them...i used to keep one...bought from a ahpek in Terennganu...and guess what...i made the salt water using only normal salt...and it lived happily in the pond...here are the pics of it...enjoy Attached thumbnail(s)

QUOTE(xgambler @ Oct 17 2008, 01:57 AM) duhknight, very nice turtle u have there. thanks...and by the way...you dont even need a super water filter system...as a matter of fact...i dont use a filter in its setup im not encouraging you all to keep those endangered turtles...just letting you all know how tough they are in adapting to a new environment...the main factors they become endangered are because of their natural predators and of course...human factors if they are bred in captivities...im sure their numbers will increase excessively...just like how the Chinese did to increase the population of the sturgeons...the sturgeons used to be the most endangered fish in China...after years of captive breeding...they are now being sold in restaurant as delicacies in Taiwan... True, last time i bought a leopard tortoise from them and it died after 5 days...f***...and my friends also bought 2 RES of which also died after a few days...mind you...they do not and will not refund you for the dead reptiles...they will refund you for the dead dogs or cats though...such an ars*hol* BIG company.
