I let leos graze on grass. I think rabbit pellet is not really good as they contain  a lot of salt.

Any specific type of grass? or they will choose what to graze instictly (if i put them in the field)? Any grass that is poisonous to them>?
Thnx smile.gif

they take HAY..but not much..normally u just have to mix everything up...with those vege together...
well....the best way to keep leopard tortoise or sulcata is indoor...
just buy one big tub...put them in...
make sure got lots of basking...they will be very active when theres good heat in the tub...they love it when its HAWTz
*
Hmm.. So they eat green grass or hay? I tot they should eat grass more than vege?

Btw, if i keep them outoor, with shelter, are they going to be OK if raining? Esp at nite? More or less they will be get wet i guess unsure.gif

One of my Leo got RNS ago, sigh, i wonder whether it's gona heal by itself? Or do i need to increase the duration of basking? It seems to have decreased activity n appetite.

I have read that worm infestation may also cause symptoms similar to RNS, any deworiming product available for the tortoise? Or any Vet that treat RNS ?

Btw, where can i get cuttlebone? Take from cuttlefish?

I'm not sure bout the increasing the basking duration but its better to leave them in the morning sun when its not too hot say 7-9am? was advised that last time. and pumpkin is said to be a natural dewormer. same for leos?
*
Thnx for the info, i just brought it to a vet this morning, hope it gona get well soon. Not quite sure if pumpkin can really deworm? I HAve seen a dewroming product for tortise in a pet shop in tmn megah this morning, but cost rm4+.++ . Anybody tried albendazole b4?

Both hay and cuttle bone can be bought in pet shops. The petshop underneath home improvement has both (although you shouldn't buy animals from there).

Petshop underneath home improvement? Where is it?

Dont even start to compare prices !!

As there are  many cost involve ie transport to get those livestock from Penisular .....etc

WC Spiny Hill sell for less than RM 50 a pc here in Sabah I could even get CB hatchling Spiny for about RM 100 a pc !!!

If I am not wrong Spiny sell for RM 200 - 350 retail !!!

Compare / match that !!
*

monday - thurs : vegetable
fri : vegetable + calcium

This is a good site to read :
http://africantortoise.com/

I feed mine with hibiscus leaves-flower (2-3 times/week), opuntia cactus (once a week), weeds(main food) ( few types, depend on what i come across each day, but beware of poisonous plant).

Actually their main diet should be grass, but small tort seems show no interest in grass

Guys.. if i rare my baby star tortoise in a syrofoam box okay arh?
or is it a bad idea??
*
When the tortise try to climb up or scracthing around, it will create debris which it can be accicentally swallowed with food? Syrofoam cannot be digested

Besides, it capture heat -- risk of overheating
