well if u have other fren wearing white thn bounce off then it works too smile.gif white works better since it won't cost color cast, other color works too but you'll need PP to fix the color cast though. I suggest you read this blog, you'll be surprise how he bounce sometimes.
If you using direct flash as fill, try reducing the flash output to just enough to remove the shadows but won't create harsh light

I yet to try the new ST-32... I only has the older ST-E2 on hand. cool2.gif

And yes, it is a wirelss transmitter.

Actually flashing at outdoor is kind of hard... especially want high quality flash. I am also facing similar problem. At this moment, I can only think of 2....

(1) Use fill in nia... balance off with existing light... it will reduce constrast and of course harshness of flash directly

(2) MIght want to DIY the umbrella flash thing in other thread... I think it is a damn good idea!

QUOTE
The metering method defines which information of the scene is used to calculate the exposure value and how it is determined. Metering modes depend on the camera and the brand, but are mostly variations of the following three types:

Matrix or Evaluative Metering
This is probably the most complex metering mode, offering the best exposure in most circumstances. Essentially, the scene is split up into a matrix of metering zones which are evaluated individually. The overall exposure is based on an algorithm specific to that camera, the details of which are closely guarded by the manufacturer. Often they are based on comparing the measurements to the exposure of typical scenes.

Center-weighted Average MeteringProbably the most common metering method implemented in nearly every digital camera and the default for those digital cameras which don't offer metering mode selection. This method averages the exposure of the entire frame but gives extra weight to the center and is ideal for portraits.

Spot (Partial) MeteringSpot metering allows you to meter the subject in the center of the frame (or on some cameras at the selected AF point). Only a small area of the whole frame is metered and the exposure of the rest of the frame is ignored. This type of metering is useful for brightly backlit, macro, and moon shots.

For our Canon 350D and 400D, we have Partial metering only.. too bad we do not have spot metering
Partial works like spot but more larger area. Spot is much more accurate
Someone explained to me before on this

Ya, no spot metering. But spot metering can be tricky to use at times. If you want to use it, you can duplicate the same results with partial metering. You can zoom into the spot you want to meter and then take a reading. Then you zoom out, reframe and shoot.

Always use a lower price or state a higher discount. Or better, say you sold off your old lens and got major savings for the new item you bought. Hahahaha!

Yes you are right. The only time we use a better quality one is where we don't want the new filter to create new flaring and reflection issues. Thats why the normal Hoya multi-coated is ok for use liao. If you worried that your usage might scratch the filter, then you can opt for a high resistance coating that is scratch resistant. Or just throw and buy a new one because it is so cheap.

Like our PM, I also practice transparency. So, it's very hard to keep the pricing information away man.

keke..

Some ppl say that if you are spending $$$$ on a lens, at least you could spend some $ on good filters as it may affect your image quality. but then, as vincent mentioned, if you don't see it, then perhaps there's no effect?

I personally do NOT consider a low end/low cost filter to be acceptable. Many of these exist - do NOT buy them. They will degrade the quality of your pictures with contrast and flare being the primary issues. Image sharpness can be affected. You spent a lot of money for your camera and lens in quest of good quality pictures. Don't throw away your
investment with a cheap UV filter.
