agree..
my wife got SPM only...
but now shes Cheif Clerk at Chung & Hasnal Co.
Salary 1800.00
so, why must study to Degree ?????  notworthy.gif

without a degree, it's hard for your wife to request higher salary as most company will press down your wife salary.
almost all big company will look for paper qualification when deciding the salary. without it, they will press it very low..

let me put it this way
bill gates was once the richest person in the world
he did dropped out of college.
i think being ranked as the richest person in the world
he went back and finished his degree

some people just want a sense of accomplishment,
some people just want an education
some people just want better pay

degree for sense of accomplishment, ok
degree for education, errr.. sometimes this doesn't work out.
degree for better pay.. sometimes this doesn't work out

i've seen people like me, classified as "morons" who get better pay then people who are smarter than me.

i've seen diploma students who are more competent than people with masters
i've seen diploma students earning at least 3 times what the masters are earning. at the same age. +- 1 or 2 years.

my point is
a higher qualification doesn't guarantee a better pay,
but the bosses sometimes have to make decisions because they will be audited.
two people equally impressive, one with a degree, one with a diploma,
the general manager will question the store manager, why the diploma guy was given a promotion over the degree guy
but if its the other way around, no questions asked.
so the store manager, who wants to keep things as simple as possible promotes the degree guy.

somehow.... earning big bucks comes from your own hardwork. it does not matter if ur a degree holder/master holder or a diploma holder. but i do admit master n degree holders DOES get shortlisted more often compared to diploma holders meaning ur cert is to get u into the company.... from then on... its your hard work and deligence.

certain indusrty need certain criteria. some will prefer experience to qualification and vice versa. but i do believe what makes u successful is not your qualification, its your attitude.

if your in education line, dont say la... minimum now is master i think if u wanna get higher pay. so to speak.... diff industry needs different criteria.

to be managers, you probably need at least 8 years in the field.
but if you are good, maybe less time. 5 years exp is possible, maybe less.

i think java gets paid the most
then dot net
then java

don't know that many dot net developers

java and php are relatively open source
but php is scripting, so most hard core programmers think of it as a toy.
