Job Title : Advertising & Promotion (A&P)
Job Desciption : All about event planning and execution for internal and external parties.
Years spent in company : 2 months
Company : Local conglomerate
Industry : Marketing, A&P
Tenure : permanent
Employment Level : Exec
Experience before joining : 2 years
Salary : RM 2.7k

I get lots of scolding from numerous external parties because my few levels of management can never agree with each other when it comes to decision-making. When decision is finalised, it's already considered last minute job and I get scolding from them for 'bad planning'. They are so cheap that myself have to be my own despatch person and even do lots of lowest point of job areas that any part timers or uneducated people can easily be hired to do it for me. Knowing it's events life, I have to work until really late in office daily, even sometimes up to midnight ++ so I can forget about my social & weekends life (we have few events every month without fail). It's all rush rush, scolding scolding, late nights and high turn-over rate in my department.

Tell me..is it worth the RM2.7k to have a life like that? I don't know... any advice? sad.gif

For 2.7k for a life like that, i'd say it's not worth it. Plus you have 2 years of experience. I am not sure what the standard salary rate is for your industry, perhaps there are better jobs out there where you can demand a higher salary.

But if you value the experience you're getting there i suggest you stay there for a couple of months while at the same time keeping your eyes peeled for any better job openings.

1.9k salary??!! Get away from that hell place!

Yea I know what you mean. My place also, thanks to our management indecisive outcome, our department are delayed to the last minute and we ended up involving the graphic designer to rush it through till morning. Gosh I always feel bad giving my creative design ppl last minute work cause I know how it feels to be rushed by people to meet datelines!

I think the job culture here in Malaysia is pretty screwed up and they are taking advantage on us small fries because they will give the "economy is unstable so you small fry needs us desperately so i'm gonna make u work like ur earning RM5k and if u dun like it, quit ur job but do u think u can find another job that pays you?" kinda attitude.

But seriously... 3 years experience.. u shuold be earning more... and with those late nights too. I really need to slow down my working life desperately..i miss my family and friends... sad.gif

Hi Taiko88, it should be "increment" instead of "increasement".

I have a friend who opened his own pharmacy (at the age of 35) in Subang and is doing quite well, he said his revenue from wheelchair and related stuff is far more than other pharmaceutical products. I don't know why but perhaps is something you can do some research.

Since you are below 30, don't you think is better for you to gain some experience before starting your own business?

yaya... need some luck sometimes. btw, dont be too choosy. Some company willing to give high for good programmer/software engineer/web developer because is hard to find a good programmer. So, if u feeling u are good and underpaid but ur company not willing to give ur expected, try others. -.- If you believe u are good, u can easily get a job in programmer field because a lot of programmer jobs outside, just grab it.

I agreed with you, I almost work around 15-17 hrs per day, reason is 'just want to be an excellent programmer' for getting higher pay, of course programming also my hobby, it is interesting, changable, flexible.... many many...
