They hit my car while unloading in port klang, small hit costs only few hundred bucks, and couldn't claim anything... Not a big deal but new car, imagine feeling...

I talked to agent to pay for it, as a Malaysia classic they made me remember "the only consumer right is not to consume" in Malaysia....

So if you import a car ask forwarder to arrange you witnessing while unloading container...

How long generally for car to arrive in KL from UK? Can you recommend any company in UK from experiences of members in this forum?

So, I tried to understand the tax system as you described, plz correct me if I am wrong, if my car S2000 retail price is 27000. Than minus 17.5 vat which is 4725, left witrh 22275. As the car is over 5 years old, allowing for 70% reduction, left with 6683, thats when I get confused and do you times 120%? Is it the same for japanese car even if i bought in Europe?

Thanx!!!

Here a tip I have to mention...

... the car if possible must remain as stock as possible so the custom department has no excuse to charge you extra. Even extra cd-player/sound/video system adds value to the car. (Removed the "extra" things in separate boxes, together with your personnel items, if shipped together in a container with your car).

As leslieng, you mentioned heavily moddied... This may cause a problem. If engine/parts modified, but no outward/obvious appearance, it should be fine. You declaration of chassis and engine no. must be supported with documentation, or at least declared during application of AP.

For more info call MITI, the tax free professional AP... (maybe still applicable). If not you'll still qualify for the rather low tax (because of depreciation)

1. you can google internet or if ive not mistaken there is a list on cars docket price at MITI website, try to find the article from document 11(doc 11 is about bringing car back home) coz i had downloaded it last years and sadly couldnt remember where did i save it...

2. ok im not a economist so im assuming VAT=valorem added tax from my 101 econs years ago..so the docket price is the price when the car just rolled out the factory without any additional tax+excise or whatsoever(correct me if im wrong)...damn pure price FTW!!!

3.well its damn alot runners you can choose!!..what i can advise you is get few quotes and compare them, you can get reference from forumers here..well worst case scenario if dont get one, i'll get your things done with competitive pay!(hope its more than my annual leave trade off cost =p)

personally, an interesting case since its related to free AP on experts coming back home..well feel free to holla us for info..the best is ring MITI and ask the procedures, dont forget to get the officer's name

the best case since lame "please calculate my tax" thread...

btw, s2000!!!! damn rad car!!...no interest in lotus? hehe coz im dying the drive one.. =p

Seriously, if u re interested, I would like to acquire your service and expertise( and the opportunity also open to all members in this forum), Plz PM me your phone number. I asked MITI already as S2000 is rare car in Malaysia, no docket price is available.

My S2000 is modified, lots of time invloved in assembling the turbo parts, tuning by famous US tuner, Mase with power up to 500 bhp, corner weight balancing with Ohlins suspension achieving 50:50 balancing by F1 Red bull technician based in UK, Thats why the hassle to bring it back as I am not likely to own another car like this. I am happy to give u a ride as soon as the car docked in port klang tongue.gif

ps:: I am on holiday in Malaysia and will be leaving back to UK on this coming Friday

Called MITI, I can apply for AP but not tax free as I am not intended to work in Malaysia but in Singapore. As mentioned in this forum, there will be significant deduction in tax due to the age of the car.

Hi guys,

my friend who graduated with Bachelor Degree on 2006(UK) is currently working in UK as professional oil&gas related engineer for 3 yrs to date, he is coming back to Malaysia for good next year(2011 - by then will have 4 yrs+ working experience) and he wish to bring 2 cars back from UK, is he eligible under the program of "INCENTIVES UNDER THE PROGRAMME TO ENCOURAGE MALAYSIAN CITIZENS WITH EXPERTISE RESIDING OVERSEAS TO RETURN TO MALAYSIA"?

I saw the "FIELDS OF EXPERTISE" from http://www.mohr.gov.my/index.php?option=co...=140&Itemid=231
it stated that professional with Bachelor Degree must work at least 6 yrs, is it possible to get 'discount' over this issue? or any alternatives?
please advise.

Thank you~

Hi guys,

I'm a malaysian citizen , studied 4 years in australian and planning to work here as an engineer for 3-4 years. I'm planning to buy an Evo X which cost about AUD$70,000 and will be bringing it back to malaysia after 3-4 years when i'm going back for good.

Can someone tell me how it works , like what sort of taxes i'll need to pay and at what rate ?

Thank you so much

with a B.Sc. ... as mentioned, 6 years working.. you'll get tax free... less than that, standard tax rates applies... b.t.w. PHD only requires 2 years...

ask a stupid question,if sumone ask b4,then dun scold me......Let say now 2010,at japan a 2006 toyota estima is about RM88,000.00,do i need to find the docket price for it to import it into malaysia?

Ok,i found a list with all docket price http://media.paultan.org/pricelist.pdf

According to it,the docket price for estiam 2.4cc is RM72,380

so after i done the calculation with using http://www.floristhut.com/taxkastam4.htm

after -15%
=RM61,523.00

-58% for 4 years
=RM25,839.66

RM25,839.66+RM1200+RM387.59
=RM27,427.25

duti import=5%
Duti eksais=90%
sale duti=10%=RM5,471.74

all add together is RM32,761.85<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<THIS IS TAXATION FOR 1 ESTIMA?

so if my cost for estima is RM88,000.00+RM32,761.85=RM120,761.25<<<<<<<include taxation for 1 estima??

correct me if im wrong wif the calculation......
