hey beastX
maybe this question has been asked though
but lets just assume this is for the benefit of the masses

whats the normal rate of the price for AP will be charged should we intend to bring a car from overseas into malaysia via grey importers

thanks
*
no standard price
imho price ranges rm5k-10k depending on places eg its rm10k in japan
since you have no basic knowledge on AP, im assuming you are not from UK or Japan
AP from both places is unlikely to hit those figures, maybe just worth for personal use rather than selling it to 3rd party
but yeah, you may try..

The gov. plans to auction off AP for extra cash.... you may want to wait till then... Student/working AP is free ... as is the AP given to certain parties (for them to earn free money with a piece of paper, if they sell it.)

hi guys,
i got few friends who r studying in japan, and finished 1st half of next year...
since they could not afford to buy a car, the asked me, to ask, to sell their student AP,anyone interested i can give email address and discus with them directly..
since u all know, the title of the car cant be change for 2 years (it means legal owner(AP holder name) n actual owner is a diffrent guy)

AP holder will not gain any tax exemption or special discount whatsoever, they onli hav the permit to import a car into Malaysia.
party interested need to have ready money for:
Car cost + transportation cost + Custom's tax + AP price.

Car cost + transportation cost + Custom's tax + AP price.
For you ref. a 20ft container would cost about RM5k from Japan to Port Kelang... The AP you can nego (but off the books or forum...)

JP export..

translation of title - no need
custom japan clearance - only need to de-register the car, very little cost involved (cannot recall) but all-in-all about/less than a hundred RM I think. (not in the RM5k cost)
forwarding the car to port and etc - (all inclusive with the shipping cost)
Forwarding the car from ship/port to unloading area (when reached Malaysia) - RM 800 to RM1.5k...(also not in the RM5k cost)

bro how bout cars that more than 16years old?
such as Honda NSX 1991, is there will be no custom tax at all??
since the "custom value to be tax" is = rm0.00
is it possible?

For normal import/Student/Working AP.
Tax will never be zero (FOB depreciation goes to infinity number of years) .... CIF value, the transport/shipping + insurance cost is inclusive.... for a 16 yo car... rough estimate below RM 10k in the overall tax.

There will be zero tax if you're a returning professional (like a PhD holder with 2 years working experience of required/listed field)

yes ur right bro, there will be no zero tax.
is there any links that i can find a custom's docket price for car from japan?
Custom said they refer to the "Japanese Motor Vehicle Guidebook" for docket price. any link or reference?
i adi email the custom officer, he said the depreciation is - 70%(first 6 years) - 10% (every 1 year, subsequent year).
example:
a 10 years old car, docket price of rm150,000 (example)
150,000 (docket price) - 15% (trade discount) - 70% (first 6 years depreciation) - 10% - 10% -10% - 10% (depreciation for subsequent 4 years) = FOB, am i right?

Hi All,

I'm an expat working in KL and I'm looking for an import agent to import a car from the US to KL. Please contact me if you have any contacts or recommendations for import agents.

Thank you,
