I am seriously doubtful of the battery life of the Air - Apple uses the phrase “all day battery life” very broadly - they said the same about the iPhone SEs and those don’t get anywhere near all day battery life for me

QUOTE(attw @ Sep 10 2025, 09:03 AM) I am seriously doubtful of the battery life of the Air - Apple uses the phrase “all day battery life” very broadly - they said the same about the iPhone SEs and those don’t get anywhere near all day battery life for me think everything comes with compromisation. if one needs to go for thinner/lighter, it is something to accept. else can choose 17 or pro series actually. at least now there are choices. those who previously own iphone mini and care more about the size and weight, i think air is actually a good model to consider. |

QUOTE(Baconateer @ Sep 10 2025, 09:11 AM) u can read the tech spec ic. that's good. it means display is totally not a deal breaker between 17 and pro series. https://www.apple.com/my/iphone-17/specs/ Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating Anti-reflective coating good thing for 17 series users. |

I might buy iPhone 17 for my mom later to upgrade from her SE 2022. At least the screen is bigger and everything else is better.
Wait for a few months for those online platforms to be cheaper. |

QUOTE(westlife @ Sep 10 2025, 03:00 AM) the single rear camera = dual camera in one system rite? so this one is not really a deal breaker. Really? I didn’t read the whole spec sheet yet. You mean actual physical focus length switching (like in a periscope zoom) or just digital cropping? QUOTE(westlife) battery life to be fair only 3 hours lesser than iphone 17 = i find it acceptable, given how thin it is. I’m buying for my mum, who only changes phones every 3-4 yrs. long term battery degradation is also a concern. Such a shame they killed the Plus. Looks like I’ll need to spend big and get her a Pro Max this year. |

QUOTE(oldlady94 @ Sep 10 2025, 10:38 AM) if camera/video taking is not a key things that u do on daily basis, going to iPhone Air (it is not called 17 Air i will be changing to 17 air also. current 14 pro max only has 73% battery capacity left, but the battery life is significantly poor beyond the no. battery replacement is rm449. not worth it. might as well save the money + trade in the 14 pro max 512gb for a new iphone. QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 10 2025, 10:39 AM) I might buy iPhone 17 for my mom later to upgrade from her SE 2022. Wait for a few months for those online platforms to be cheaper. not going to be water fish this round to be the first batch buyer. QUOTE(dev/numb @ Sep 10 2025, 10:48 AM) Really? I didn’t read the whole spec sheet yet. You mean actual physical focus length switching (like in a periscope zoom) or just digital cropping? i am referring to the 48MP Fusion camera system that works like multiple advanced cameras in one. Shoot in super-high‑resolution 48MP for ultimate detail or 24MP by default, or use the built‑in 2x Telephoto to zoom in with exceptionally clear quality.QUOTE(westlife) battery life to be fair only 3 hours lesser than iphone 17 = i find it acceptable, given how thin it is. QUOTE(westlife @ Sep 10 2025, 10:10 AM) yes, totally worthy, unless one wants much bigger display then no choice need to go for pro max maybe. Got Air ma, but lose the ultra wide and macro. Then you gotta ask how often you use it. But less battery life also. QUOTE(oldlady94 @ Sep 10 2025, 10:38 AM) Feels like a downgrade. Smaller screen, no ultra wide and tele, sure not an upgrade if you ask me. |
