TM offer is the skyworth combo good ?
Or fiber home better ?

I read that this skyworth 2 in 1 is not good, and it's laggy and may not up to 500mbps.

My old setup was ZTE + dlink wifi 5
*
Fiberhome received a lot of complaints. Skyworth I am not sure as the it received mixed reviews. For D-Link B/W, I don't wish to elaborate as there is thread for it, kindly refer to that thread in forum.lowyat > networking and broadbands. The ZTE AX3000 ONR getting slightly positive reviews, but only a few customers get the unit. My advice, stick with the current configuration, by upgrading the router to either Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7. If you planning to upgrade to 500Mbps, the existing config should be fine, especially for the ZTE modem. The D-Link Wi-Fi 5 will be a bottleneck situation for you. If you upgrade to 1G or 2G, then TM will replace the equipments for you. You will get Skyworth 2.5G Black edition. If you are 2Gbps user, you will get the Skyworth BE7200 ONR.

Technically, to get public IP, you need to sub min 500Mbps package (which is uncertain now since more users hop into the package due to promotion - might afraid it will receive the same treatment as 300Mbps users). If your speed below than 500Mbps, you will be assigned with Private IP. Unlike Unifi, Maxis offers RM10/month for public IP regardless if you are a 100Mbps user. If you ask me, If I don't need high tier package, and opt for 100Mbps package, I still can opt to pay RM10/month for public IP. Means there is freedom, but with charge which I don't mind paying. Second, TM is now fully providing ONRs, unlike Maxis or Celcomdigi (they are riding on unifi infra anyway), I still prefer the freedom of using my own devices without compromising the safety or security of my connected device. I am going to register for maxis thou I still have 2 months of contract with unifi.

Allo is charging one time fee, if not my mistaken for Public IP.
Agreed man.

Hmm, gotten the 500mbps and given me the skyworth combo.
But I see that my 2.4 although near to router I only get around 15mbps or lesser but 5ghz can get up to 500mbps.
Any reason why ?

Oh for maxis and celcomdigi you mean they offer modem + router instead of combo?

Compromising safety and security of my devices.
- what do you mean ya? Could you kindly elaborate
On the skyworth combo? Why ? ๐Ÿค”

Since I am on 500mbps, I should and is public IP then? ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

Apple store install and update very very slow

Yeah, same here. Gonna keep switching between my data when I install the updates. Can't wait to go back to my own place next week which is using Maxis. These few nights have been bad on UniFi.

I also see that they have wpa2-psk/wpa3-sae,
Last time only up to wpa2-psk, but with this wpa3-sae, will it slow down the speed ? As it's take more configuration to reach my device

Since I am on 500mbps, I should and is public IP then? ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

I am paying RM149 free 6months only - 500mbps
*
I see, I was asking the agent for any promos for switching to another ISP so I was given the offer.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Nov 20 2025, 03:39 PM)
Basic. In long term, UniFi is still a saving, RM 2160 vs RM 2836 and I doubt you gonna notice a significant difference for that 100Mbps speed difference.
*
Yeah, I might not see the difference between the extra 100Mbps. I took the Unifi offer after doing the calculation.

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Nov 20 2025, 03:52 PM)
Unifi's 500mbps for rm90 is maintained even after your new contract expires. Long term wise it's the more cost effective option, unless you really have a bad service experience or history with Unifi and is desperate to switch out

Disney+ included is basic only
*
Yeah, I took the Unifi offer. So far, itโ€™s been ok for the past few years even at my parentsโ€™ house. Sad that itโ€™s Basic only and I canโ€™t upgrade it.

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Nov 20 2025, 07:09 PM)
Time 600mbps has higher upload speed, 600mbps dl/500mbps ul. Unifi 500mbps is 500/100.
Your call.
*
Yeah, I know what you mean but we donโ€™t upload lots of content often. I took the Unifi offer after seeing how much savings I get.

For the bold part, refer here

This is a very common complaints of the user using Skyworth ONR (white version). Not sure about the black version thou. Most of the time, rebooting the router will solve the issue. However, if you are using IoT devices that relies on 2.4GHz, then this is bad especially in terms of distance since 2.4GHz has better penetration power compared to 5GHz.

As for the devices, so far, AFAIK, providers like Maxis, Celcomdigi, UHome Fiber, Allo is giving standalone units.

For Unifi and TIME, they giving ONRs, but TIME's ONR is much more better than what Unifi provides. I saw one of my client using TIME's Wi-Fi 6 ONR has 128 days of uptime. There is no problem with accessing internet, and able to utilise max subscribed speed like charm.

This is fast, the termination showed resolved immediately. i thought they will take their sweet time to call again.

Facebook was having problem loading some pictures, ran a test and got higher upload speed......

Well the tests both shows way higher upload which is not normal, and doesn't explain why some pictures won't load.

skyworth combo no good its crap due low spec can't handle
if fiber home combo also crap due low spec can't handle
if fiber home btu not combo mean good enough because we can use own router

you old BTU ZTE is good prefect more stable but dlink wifi 5 router is crap due low spec
if you buy own router explain ZTE + ASUS Router high spec can handle stable or ZTE + TP LINK AX73 Latest enough Handle stable

You are asking good question. Easy. You can refer your IP at this site, then compare the IP shown in your router. Not the 192.168.x.x. If you are on 500Mbps package, then most likely you are assigned with Public IP, well atleast for now.

Anyone encountering any issue when you login to the Unifi Portal (web or app), suddenly it didn't show any info and that your account is not verified? Was all good previously.

They may not entertain over the counter anymore. Just terminate via app and wait for the call.
