Currently using tm provided router, 800mbps. But I game with lan cable, would upgrading to one of these improve my connection?
TUF Gaming AX4200 has 1x 2.5Gbps port but that one is for WAN. The LAN ports are 1Gbps.
RT-AX86U has 1x 2.5Gbps too, and you can use it for either WAN or LAN port. If you use the 2.5Gbps port as LAN port, your WAN port will be 1Gbps. The rest of LAN ports are 1Gbps, and LAN port 1 is specifically for gaming.
I have both of them, configured in AiMesh.
This is how the ports in RT-AX86U look like:

By the way, RT-AX86U Pro is the newer version with better hardware components, while RT-AX86U can still be found and selling cheaper than the Pro.

(the connected LAN port is yellow, because my TV which connected to it only support 100Mbps LAN)
As for the BE WiFi 7 routers, a glance at RT-BE58U, RT-BE86U and TUF Gaming BE6500 from website:
- RT-BE58U has 1x 2.5Gbps port which can be used for WAN or LAN. The rest are 1Gbps ports.
- RT-BE86U has 1x 10Gbps port which can be used for WAN or LAN. The rest are all 2.5Gbps ports.
- TUF Gaming BE6500 has 1x 2.5Gbps port for WAN, and the rest are also 2.5Gbps ports, for LAN.
If you have 800Mbps WAN line, 1Gbps port for WAN and/or LAN is already more than the 800Mbps cap a the WAN link. But it is good to have 2.5Gbps LAN port and even 10Gbps LAN port, provided your computer's LAN port also support the same high speed (so that you won't get a yellow connection, which is trimmed down due to network card limitation). This is because WiFi 6/6E/7 can go beyond 1Gbps, so you can have more than 1Gbps speed communicating with other WiFi connected devices, by using the 2.5Gbps/10Gbps LAN port (and your computer's network card support that speed).
