hmm.. you can give them toilet paper roll as toys. i put a driftwood, aroma burner, porcelain bowls, and a coconut inside for them to hide and play around with. as for bedding, 5 inches would be nice because gerbils are diggers smile.gif alfalfa hays, the gerbils sometimes play with them and eat them. so.. i guess you can put as much as you like.

and no, you cannot use a hamster home for them because they will chew themselves out, or even injure themselves. use a 1.5ft or 2ft plastic aquarium tank instead. hope that helps.

If the hamster wheel is not plastic and safe for them, then it is ok to put it in.

I think someone has an example pictures of the wheel posted somewhere.

You can give toilet paper rolls, mug, jar, & other non-plastic toys for them. If you can give them thick bedding then would be great since gerbils are diggers. As for alfafa, you want or don't want also up to you. But would like to let you know that alfafa can cause the light color gerbils' fur to become yellow. If you don't mind on that, then you can give them.

Yes, you can give them sand bath. They like it so much but make sure is sand bath not dust bath. If the sand is too fine can cause respiratory problem to them. As for wheel, at least 8" non-plastic wheel. If too small can injured them.

if u want to put wheel u will need to get at least 21cm wheel, gerbils have back bone, they r not like hamster. small wheel will injurt their backbone. also make sure the wheel do not have anything that poosible to clog their tail.

You can put in another tank only for sand bath or if you have container and put inside their tank. As for the color sand, I'm not sure whether it is suitable or not. But if the sand is too fine, please don't give them. It may cause respiratory problem to them.

Hahahahaha.... Normal to have messy fur. Some gerbils fur can last longer after sand bath but some after while already messy.

You sure? I checked male coz I can't see it's "hole" hahaha.... Unless I made a mistake.... but I'm pretty sure male wor.....

I had 1 gerbil, that actually didn't grow it's balls till it was close to 1 year old. He looked like a female.

It's ok. Pretty normal. Some gerbils have more grease on their fur, the sand bath is not as fine as a dust bath, so the grease do not 100% come off. Dust baths are bad for their lungs.
