This guy is so cute, I wish I can hold and kiss him.... but gerbil is so elusive.
It's like catching eels, put my hand in and he will come and check out but
almost impossible to grab him....

How do you guys hold your gerbils????

Noob question... how to give sand bath... do you just leave the sand inside???? saw a lot of colorful sandbath at midvalley pet store... is it suitable for them???

Want to ask... how do you give your gerbils a sand bath??? do you put that sand in different container???

Finally after 5 months I've got 5 babies.....

Thanks for the tip.... last sunday bought the sand in the mid-valley. Put the sand in small 10"x10" toyogo plastic..... then put mama and papa inside... I think they never seen this sand in their entire life.... They did not guling-guling but instead tried to climb out.... so I just used my hand to grab the sand and pour over them.... Their hair do look better but I think need several time so that they get used to it....

About the babies... out of 5, I think I loss one... Don't want to disturb them too much... First time mother so I think survival rate is a bit low...

Need ID here. What is my gerbil here??? Is it mongolian gerbil? Fat tailed? Father color is like the far left and mother is all black. Got these 5 babies, 3 like father and 1 like mom.... and 1 really tan color.... Just separated them yesterday from their parent cause got new pinkies.....

Thanks for the advice, boss.... I feed them with hamster food (seeds, etc), vegetable (sawi, kacang panjang, tomato, carrot).... they eat them all... but still skinny.... How to do? what kind of supplement should I get? Are they easily available? I frequently visit pet wonderland in mid valley....

OK... will visit sunway soon to get the food... the orange pup has black eye not sure about belly color... will check tonight...

Went to sunway pyramid today with family.... Looking for pet shack but can't find mentari court.....
Went home dissapointed and search google map... I miss it just a bit

Going again tomorrow What a waste of petrol, toll and parking but my gerbils will thanks me....

Found petshack last sunday... and bought prestige, britter bunny and vege power..... hopefully my gerbils will benefit from them.....
Only thing is they don't really like the vege power.... only my male rat like it so much....

Added on May 26, 2008, 3:35 pmabang brother, I'm newbie but have two clutch so far.... before gerbils, I breed mice.... from my very little experience, we human like to interfere a lot... what I mean is, we keep checking them, relocate them, clean their nest and so forth without realizing that we actually do more harm than help....

For example, my first clutch of 5 pinkies, one look very fragile and look like dying.... so I always pick the baby up and put it with the mother.... at one time I couldn't see the pinky... and I thought it already dead, because already 2 weeks cannot see.... so I gave up on her....

But after weeks, all five jumping around very healthy.... Like other said, just make sure the parents get all the nutrition and sure enough the babies will be healthy.... my 2 cents

Do moms really attack their own pup? That is strange... I saw that the pups everywhere and always thought that they are abandoned by moms but actually otherwise..... My pups always scattered all over because when mom move while milking, pup still holding on to nipple....

I thought I have only 3 pinkies... yesterday found another one... because 3 always at one place but another one, mom hide another place... all grow hair already.... 2 black, 1 nutmeg and 1 lilac.... all looks very healthy...


I roll it to ball and try to feed all my rodents.... gerbils, mice and rats.... not many of them like it....

Mine buried all the time... at first I was always on the look out and dig them out.... mom will dig them out feeding time.... funny... even papa help by laying like mom and pups suck papa nipple

again, I'm just a beginner, so it just from my newbie observation only.... not sure my gerbils behavior normal or not...

Ya la... it is their wild instinct la... where got bowl in the wild la.... Next u want them use spoon??? Ok, ok joke onli no angry ha...

Anyway, I do not use bowl. Just tabur onli... some of the food got buried..... same with other rodent.....

but so comel and lovely

Want to know one thing la bro.... how much weight is an adult gerbil??? 100g???

That's what I've been thinking... the couple that I bought last time only hit 80g... I might have done something wrong with them...
Even their offspring already hit 40g in a very short time.... and look like growing very fast...

None of my animal starving but the opposite... 99% of the time, I have overfeeding problem...

Same with my wife, daughters and son....

super addicted already.... you leave out one thing.... bunny britter or something... to be mixed with that prestige....
