Some very narrow 2 way lanes in high hilly areas even in cities. Left turns come up abruptly. Lots of rules, drivers habits different from here, e.g. police may stop you if changing lanes too much or driving irregular speed, thinking you are drunk. Street pavement markings different, funny signs such as serial degrees along curvature. Many signs in Japanese only. Must obey strict laws!

For late Jan - it will still be cold. I guess would be around 10-5c. I've seen the wind situation in osaka and quite windy also. Why not wait till Dec and check out Yahoo Weather forecast and see if it'll be this temp or not. If yes and windy, confirm u need winter jacket. If you are just wearing normal jacket, confirm u will freeze.

If it's of this temp, i don't think u would want to walk around osaka in freezing mode searching for winter jacket lor......

Gloves & scarves can buy there.....

A JAPAN RAIL PASS cannot be purchased inside Japan.
You must purchase an Exchange Order from an authorized sales office or agent before you come to Japan.

Please note JR is a big nation-wide company and mostly runs the older above ground lines that in Tokyo, go underground and come up again like the Putra LRT. Most of the underground system is a local company and you must buy separate tickets. You can get short-term passes that include both JR and Metro, daily passes for only Metro subways, or the expensive JR Rail Pass that gets you Shinkansen, JR intercity buses and ferries up and down from Hokkaido to Kyushu. None of these passes are worth it unless you plan to move around constantly.

If you plan only taking trains in Kansai Area then buy JR West Rail Pass is most suit. 2,000 1 day Pass....maximum is 4 days pass. This pass works in Osaka , Kyoto , Kobe subways.

To get this pass you need go Major train Station in Kansai // Airport ticket infomation counter get it. This pass only sold for foreiners...So you must show your Passport with Visa together then only can get it.

Another:

The Surutto Kansai 2 Day and 3 Day Tickets cost about the same as the JR West Kansai Area Pass, but cover a wider and denser network, including the subways and city buses of Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe, but excluding JR trains. Unlike the JR West Kansai Area Pass, the Surutto Kansai Tickets can also be used by residents of Japan.

Hi guys, I'd be visiting tokyo early december

Don't plan to use the weekly pass. so using Hyperdia's website, it says I have to change lines to reach my hostel. Do I have to buy tickets separately for different lines ?
