Hi,
Just want opinions of veterans here. I am going to Japan in September and have booked Sunroute Kawasaki (refundable) as my base there. Anyone stayed in Kawasaki before? Based on my research (online) its quite a pleasant neighbourhood to stay with shopping eateries nearby and close to Shinagawa station (15mins) and Tokyo station(ard 20min) via JR. Below is my broad itineary for the trip:-
Day
1 (Thursday) - Fly in Haneda airport at 10.30p.m. Rush and take Keihin(15mins commuter) to Kawasaki Station and walk to hotel. If fail, take a cab. 9maybe 6-8K yen)
2 (Friday) - Explore Kawasaki and hotel surroundings then Shinjuku & Shibuya.
3 (Sat) - Imperial Palace / Yasukuni Shrine / Ginza area
4 (Sun) - Shibuya / Harajuku (morning for Cosplay watching) / Yokohama (p.m) -Plan to visit Kirin Beer Factory in Yokohama and explore Yokohama a bit
5 (Monday) - Shinkansen to Kyoto from Shinagawa (Plan to buy the 21000 Yen 7 day open ticket from Japanican), Booked Royal Plaza Hotel, The Kyoto (5 nights)
6-10 (Tue- Sat) - Explore Kyoto (maybe even a side trip to Iga-Ueno for Authentic Ninja Museum and show)
10 (Sat) - Shinkanse back to Shinagawa, check back into Sunroute Kawasaki ...explore Kawasaki for shopping etc
11 (Sunday) - Ueno & Asakusa
12 (Monday) - Akihabara
13 (Tues) - No plan yet
14 (Wed) - No plan yet
15 (Thursday) - Fly back via Haneda via 11.30p.m flight
Actually, I have been planning my trip since last Nov when booked AAX flight for me and gf. I have revamped my plan and booking a few times (since all online hotel booking got back 105% of moies paid) and this is the latest plan. Please feel free to comment on the itineary. Thank you.
I also have 2 questions, should I try to squeeze in Osaka and Hakone into this trip? So far Osaka don't interest me much, except for their castle ( I stand to be corrected). I feel what can be found in Osaka should be able to also find in either Kyoto or Tokyo right?
