Will be going to Haneda during Mar School Holiday 6D5N

Still early to start planning but well why not haha..Itineraries probably incl Tokyo & Kyoto (Palace & Mt Fuji)

Abit of question..pardon at this stage bcos I hv really start doing any research yet haha..

1) How much is the bullet train fare to Kyoto from Tokyo?
2) Can the capsule hotel bed accomodate 2 person? - Trying to be kiampsiap abit haha
3) Should I make a day trip to Kyoto/Mt Fuji or stay 1 or 2 nite there?

I'm only super duper budget backpacking style and probably only bringing RM4000K max for my trip there...Hopefully can survive within a week haha.. Hotel & ticket -prebooked..So RM4K is just for transportation, food & abit of soorvenirs

Wah RM700/pax on bullet train...that goes my Kyoto plan cry.gif ..I was thinking it will be as affordable as Seoul.. sad.gif
RM4K is just for transport (MRT) & food for 3 pax.. as Hotel will be prepaid as usual haha. Limiting to only taking breakfast & Dinner and junk lunch of cup noodle in any 7-11 blush.gif .

If capsule kenot fit 2 pax, no choice taking a semi-double bed one room liao..The cheapest I can find ~ US$70/room after adding tax in agoda.. hmm.gif
QUOTE(Shazzac @ Jan 6 2012, 11:48 AM)
4k for how many pax?

1) The last i've checked. Single journey tickets for shinkansen goes as low as RM700+. Always get the pass which is more affordable.
2) Capsule Hotel have 'coffin-like' sleeping area which is only for 1 pax. Usually they do not allow women to stay there (as far as I know but I might be wrong).
3) Not sure.

Wah good suggestion...phewww.. OK lunch box or what they termed it Bento hor rclxms.gif OK looking into that wesite.. Yeah Agoda no longer as cheap as b4 esp wth the tax/handling fee added in just b4 pyt..can be as high as US$10/room/note sigh...

Unfortunately still not into Disneyland haha..budget mah and I'm not into themepark thingy...My kid..yeah she will be sad again..probably similar to what I did in HK Disneyland & Seoul Lotte World..reached there snapped photo from far can liao..just to say we been there blush.gif biggrin.gif
QUOTE(Shazzac @ Jan 6 2012, 02:40 PM)
Hrm, cup noodle for lunch ah? Actually their 7-11 got the rice pack which is quite affordable as well and imo delicious LOL. Much more filling than cup noodle la. Breakfast, you should buy their rice balls (dunno call what dy) from 7-11, quite tasty and filling but for myself I need 2 to be full! For drinks, best you buy the biggest bottle, much bigger value than the small ones. If can go to supermarkets, from what i can see, it's cheaper abit than 7-11.

Maybe you can try renting rooms/apartments from www.airbnb.com? I started booking my accomodations from this website this year onwards for all my trips. Sometimes some of their property are located very central. Cheaper than renting hotel rooms. Much more homey.

I feel that agoda's prices are not cheap plus the 'special charges' are not revealed until you want to finalized your booking.

Hrm, I think Rm4k will be enough for transportation, food, some attractions.

You'll be taking your kid INTO disneyland this time right? LOL

Actually I'm looking for a family room bcos will be going wth my wife & daughter. Yes on tight budget and not willing to spend >RM250/nite. So pretty hard to get a private room for 3 at this budget cry.gif ..Pretty hard to stay in dormitory & sharing th others unless the dormitory comes wth private room or One of the capsule can accomodate 2 pax (My wife & daughter to a capsule?)

We will not be climbing Mt Fuji for sure but we might be making a day trip to the best location just to get the best family picture and return to Tokyo. Worst come to worst..probably snap virtual Mt Fuji from the studio biggrin.gif blush.gif
QUOTE(basnojj @ Jan 9 2012, 08:48 PM)
1. If you are really on a tight budget to stay in Tokyo, i have a good recommendation, JGH hotel @ hostelworld.com ( i forgot the personal contact number of the owner, so no choice have to go through the website).

The rate is at 1000 YEN /night in a dormitory room @ August 2011. The room is small but acceptable for such cost. It cost 1100 YEN now, approximately RM50+ a night there.
The owner is very friendly, they can speak english fluently, and the place is clean, they provide washing machine, share toilet and bathroom.

I travelled from Shinjuku bus station to the 5th station with bus at night around 6pm, reach there at 8/9PM, then we can start climbing the mountain at dark (head lamp must be prepared or else you will not reach the top, or even next station.. ) Well you can purchase a road at the store then you can get a chop on your rod at every station up to the 10th station to prove that you successfully arrive the station!

*Bus ticket cost around 2000YEN on each way from SHINJUKU-5th Station and 5th Station- SHINJUKU.
This is what i can share with you, if you have any question to ask feel free to pm to my inbox. =)

Oh OK tnx.. good idea.. but you posted earlier the cost of going there iwl be RM700/pax one way wor..I was like shocking.gif rclxub.gif and decided not to go till basnojj mentioned the 2000yen bus ticket haha. Now how much is the cost going to Hakone.. I'll probably taking abus since cn't afford RM700 bullet train ride.. bcos it will be RM4200 for 3 return bullet train ride liao from Tokyo shocking.gif rclxub.gif

Also, AAX will be arriving late..~ 10:30pm. by the time out from the airport probably ~ 11:15pm dy.. Taking a monorail or keikyun line to either one of the subway line will be dangerous game bcos by the time of arrival. All MRT probably close dy.. I'm thinking of taking the 900yen airport limousine to Suitenmae station. Wondering surrounding this station good place to stay?
QUOTE(RegentCid @ Jan 13 2012, 11:03 AM)
Want see Good View of Mt Fuji without going Shizuoka......then just go Hakone

Seriosly stimix...spent 2 day 1 night at Hakone will never regret!!!  Hakone just 1 hour 30 minute away from Tokyo Shinjuku Station only.

Shinkansen now secondary to me after experiencing almost similar bullet train in China haha...I'm more towards family budget travel /family backpacking style & hate those travle agents style arrangement ..I hate their time limit on each location and for those rubbish gem stores/ food factory utlets..like no limit wan or having min 1 hr limit when we finished within 15min shakehead.gif

Hmmnnn anyway, you give me another idea..stay 1-2 days near hamamatsucho station which is the last stop for Haneda Monorail right? rclxms.gif ..Thereafter probably move up to Tokyo area hmm.gif This way, probably will not miss on the last metro train to Tokyo at midnite hmm.gif
QUOTE(matt85 @ Jan 13 2012, 02:53 PM)
Stimix,

Not sure whether anyone mention this before, actually there are arranged tours by JNTO to various spots around Japan (cue Hakone/Fuji tour). Can't remember how much it cost, but definitely not costing a leg or 700/pax. Great guide and Eigo service, includes food and a Shinkanshen travel experience.

Definitely worth it; they did something for me till this day i can't forget.  thumbup.gif

The tours depart from Hamamatsucho bus terminal, which is quite near to Tokyo Tower and Zojoji. You can get more information there and all JNTO offices (a big one in Shinjuku Metropolitan Office Tower).

Hmnnn meaning to Shizouka from Tokyo also the same price-lah..Darn not cheap for a RM800+ return bullet train to Shizouka from Tokyo...Hakone can liao haha..probably buy the Japanese govt tour group.

OK- at this point, I settled my hotel liao. booked Horidome Villa hotel in Chou-ku ~ 800M North of Tokyo inland airport is Suitengmae station.. Not bad for a RM215/nite. Proper attached bathroom but room abit small for 3 ppl haha. rclxms.gif

Hmnn I thought just 200M away from Ningyocho station? OK-lah haha..Walking during end of winter/begining of spring should be OK. biggrin.gif

Reason I choose this hotel bcos having proper attached bathroom for family, and I will be reaching Tokyo late via AAX so by that time, it's risky taking Monorail & subway as close to midnite. So easier to take the limousine bus (900yen) to Tokyo Inland Terminal beside Park Royal- Suitengmae station. And most probably I will try walking 800M North to the hotel..Worst, just stop a cab kua biggrin.gif

Darn..Just found out hotel.com offering cheaper rate than Agoda!! RM184 Vs RM215 Sigh...Too late liao sad.gif

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Jan 31 2012, 04:15 PM)
Location quite good...Center of Tokyo.  So near to Akibahara  brows.gif  brows.gif  brows.gif
Big weakness was....it was far away from Train Station!!!

Walking to Bakurocho Station also ..... ohmy.gif

Walking to Shinihonbashi Station also ...  ohmy.gif

BTW...you go anywhere also have to go Tokyo Station first then change another Line.

Haha.. I also wil be staying at Horidome Villa. Also via AAX. I will not be taking risk by taing monorail & subway combo. I hv bad experience in Seoul also the same problem. AAX arrived ~ 9:30pm. After clearance, I proceeded to AREX train and last time only till the old airport at Gimpo. Once I reached Gimpo ~ 11:30pm. No more subway dy. All stopped! I hv to go up the the old terminal & flagged the taxi there..As KL style, they unwilling to use Meter bcos it's midnite & no other mode of transports..sigh!!

So to play safe, I will take the limousine bus (900yen) to Tokyo inland Terminal just ~ 800M South of Horidome Villa and walk to the hotel

BTW, how much you get for Horidome Villa/nite? Mine RM215 for a small semi double room.

QUOTE(kookaaq @ Feb 2 2012, 10:54 AM)
