Speed Racer (2008)

Watched this on HD yesterday and have to say, eye candy. PURE EYE CANDY!!

The first 15 minutes GENIUS and the ending GENIUS x 2.

The practical and effect shots for this movie is SO seemless, it DEFIES reason

Unfortunately, not many person GOT the movie, which means it was NOT a Box Office success.

If Warner decides put a good Lossless audio on the Special Edition BD for this movie, I'll be first in line to get it

4 posts in a row, lol.

Yeah I like Speed Racer too.

The Road - Overall a good movie with a few (too few) great scenes.

I watched all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I only planned to watch the first, but after that ended I couldn't bring myself to not watch the remaining two. I'm not ashamed to say this has become one of my favourite trilogies. The movie get progressively worse, but that's only because the first is utterly brilliant, the second is great, and the third "merely" very good. I cant think of any modern series that has such a great sense of fun, and some terrific action sequences to boot. I think many people lost interest in the second movie because it just seemed so unfocused. But I think, having watched it like 10 times now, it simply has a total disregard for set rules. It doesnt care that this particular scene doesn't further the plot, all it wants is some... no, A LOT OF GODDAMN FUN AND MADNESS. f*** the plot, I dont give a shit, it says. This is Jack Sparrow, he's mad, why should the movie be different? Which is why the third movie is easily the worst, what with its convulated plot, double backstabbings, triple backstabbings. Still, it preserves the fun, and the last hour is pure epic spectacle. Oh, and all three are hilarious. Seriously, each movie has at least two jokes that make me howl with laughter.

Cant bloody wait for POTC 4. The worry is that Rob Marshall wont be up to the task. I want Verbinski back!

The Wolfman (2009)

I really wanted to see this after I caught wind of it.

Alas, when it was release in the theater, reviews were poor.

It is recently release on BD, and I was able to watch it on HD yesterday.

I regret not watching this in the cinema! smile.gif

It started out slow, but when it pickup, it is practically rip roaring!! laugh.gif

Initially, I had the opinion that Benicio Del Toro was a little "aged" to play the role of Lawrence Talbot.

Thinking back, all the previous iterations of Lawrence Talbot, they were "innocent" but not young.

Anthony Hopkins had played many sick in the head roles (Hannibal in Silence of the Lamb, Ted Crawford in Fractured, Ted Brautigan in Hearts of Atlantis, Van Helsing in Dracula) previously but this take the cake.

I also love that they went back to the classic look of werewolf (doggie nose look). This gives the actors more room to express emotion facially speaking.

I recommend this to lovers of werewolf, or lycanthrophy if you MUST be scientific!!

Killer (2010)

Ah, Robert Luketic, the more things change, the more things remain the same.

Having made a name for himself in the RomCom Legally Blond, he had stuck to the "blond" formula for his action RomCom The Killer (or Five Killer if you are in the States)

The movie started well, nicely paced action, enough lovely dovey to give you tooth decay, then the "3 years" later happen, which was still involving, and half way thru the second act, the director "lost" me, and I kinda guessed the end.

The last act, I prayed, and prayed for "my" ending to NOT happen... and it did....

Maybe the leads are to blame

Ashton Kutcher (who for some odd reason, always reminds be of Kelso from The 70s Show, oh wait...) and his Abercombe and Finch James Bond and Katherine Heigl "I'm a neurotic geek, and oh, by the way, am I beautiful?" who tries her best to be a young version of Sandra Bullock and didn't quite deliver

The story is WAY TOO predictable

If you like action RomCom and doesn't mind watching your movie half way thru, this movie is DEFINITELY for you

One of the best comedy i've seen this year. It's been a pretty dull year for comedy for me but this is just a must watch. The black guy (Craig Robinson )from The Office is hilarious while the nerd is well, nerdy.
