Last weekend i watch The Bourne Trilogy (all 3 movies).. One of the best spy movies... all 3 movies are awesome and Paul Greengrass (2nd and 3rd)  direction is damn good...as well as Matt Damon acting....  the car chasing scene in the 2nd movie and also in the 3rd movie also well directed !!
*
Bourne's Trilogy are my fav spy franchise.. im not classified it as great movies though..

u should try (if u not yet) Taken (Liam Neeson) if u like Bourne.. camera works and storyline are very Bourne-esque. a movies about ex US gov agent, tracing his abducted daughter (Maggie Grace wub.gif )

ive watched few movies last few days (less World Cup games give me a lot of free time)

>Smoking Aces 2
meh, i dont like it.. far lesser than the 1st movie, waste of time..
3/10.

>No Country For Old Men
re-watched it. i feel better than the first time i watched it. i dont mind to watch it again in the future.
9/10.

>The Rocker
quiet hillarious. i love old school rock, but this arent better than School of Rock (different storyline, but still about fallen rockstar try find a way to rise again). Rainn Wilson (aka Dwight Schrute in The Office) is an awesome comedian.
5.5/10.

>The Promotion
Jenna Fischer is in there, so i would love to check on this movie. just so-so, but im quiet like it coz the theme related to my real world. 2 retail executives rival each other, vying for a manager post for a new hypermarket. its a plain movie but had it moments here and there.
6/10.

Now for something a little bit different

The Music Man (1962)

QUOTE
The story of that man and his 76 trombones, and the wonderful, wonderful tune he played on every heart in town!

For the uninitiated, if you DON'T appreciate musical, please avoid this movie like the plague.

For those who wants to know what A REAL musical is, by all means, give this a try.

This was made when alot of money was poured into musical.

Harold Hill (played by Robert Preston) is a sales person/con artist who can sell ice cubes to Eskimos!!

Watching him in action would make MOST politician green with ENVY! Boy can he sell!!

The movie started by showing a group of men in a train carriage who were complaining about a Mr. Hill who had given traveling sales people a bad name.

As they finished their "sharing", they crossed state line into Iowa. They then went on by stating that nobody can pull a fast one on the people of Iowa, and that is when one of them, decided to alight the train, because he accepts the challenge, turns out he is Harold Hill.

The rest of the movie evolves around his "Con" which includes alot of singing and dancing, and oh, chasing after the pretty local librarian, who was the only one in town who would give him the time of the day (initially, anyway)

What surprises me most about this movie, is seeing Ron Howard (yes, the director Ron Howard) in the movie, who plays Winthrop Paroo (I DIDN'T make this name up, I swear!!) the brother of the pretty librarian, and who has a face (with a little help from a bottle of Eye Mo) you couldn't lie to!! tongue.gif

Is is LITERALLY a blast from the past, and it is interesting to see, what BIG budget means in Hollywood during the 60s!

The Relic (1997)

I like Peter Hyams. In 1997, he made this Action/Horror movie.

Went to the cinema to watch it with a group of friends in 1997, and it turned out one of them really REALLY hate watching horror movie, and he went because I asked him to (poor chap)!!

I have never got this on DVD, and yesterday, got a chance to watch it in HD.

Here's what I think.

1) Mr Hyams, there's these equipments, call LIGHT that you can use to illuminate your sets, so VIEWS CAN SEE WHAT YOU HAD FILMED!!

2) Mr Hyams, NOT ALL ASIAN ARE A$$HOLES (as portrait-ed in this movie of yours)

It is a blast to see Stan Winston creature effects. JUST WISH THE LIGHTS WAS ON SO WE CAN SEE MORE OF IT!!!!!

Also I think the first time I remember, seeing CGI fire effect, so... effective!! tongue.gif

Apart from the two point I had pointed out, the rest of the movie is okay.

Heh. I remember this one. It's not really a very good movie, but for some reason I had a blast watching this in the cinema. The whole audience seemed to be in the "mood" for it.

Also, I had two beers before watching it. laugh.gif

The Lovely Bones. What a mess. What a snoozefest. Practically nothing in this movies works. The acting is subpar all round (maybe except Tucci, who is pretty good), and Purgatory, or the in-between, or whatever that place was, looked like lazily patched together wallpapers downloaded from the net. Unnecessary and totally unconvincing CGI. And some of the worst voiceover narrating you are likely to ever hear. Avoid.

Wait, how old are you?

I watched The Relic when I was a kid, but cant remember much about it. I think it took place in a museum, and had some kind of monster, but that's about it.

I haven't really seen much of PJ's work to be a good judge of him, but the ineptitude on display in this movie is pretty baffling. One scene near the beginning, where the main character's brother is suffocating. It's a deadly serious scene, and I thought the little guy was gone. She goes to get the keys to the car to take him to the hospital, and suddenly, just SUDDENLY, the movie shifts from a serious tone to a light comedic one. There's one more scene later, where the family is dealing with what happened to the death of the main character, and the grandmother comes to help them cope, and again, SUDDENLY, from a serious tone, the movie switches to comedy, showing how much fun the grandmother is having. It absolutely does not work, at all.

I really think somewhere in there was a potentially good movie about how a family deals with tragedy and learn to move on, but Jackson preferred to swamp us with pointless images of the afterlife. Pretty much every scene in the In-between was utterly pointless and boring to look at, adding nothing to the movie. I didn't appreciate the supernatural elements in the movie either. Another addition which I thought was badly handled and pointless, again. Not to mention I can't at all agree with the message at the end of the movie.

Oh yeah, watched The Losers. Passable I guess, but I think I saw a very similar movie a few weeks ago. It's called The A-Team.

I just finish watching Lovely Bones again on BD, I still like it

I admit, the storyline is unorthodox (as you had pointed out). I don't believe she was in Purgatory, more like limbo and the reason is

I've seen FOTR, which I liked, but the LOTR kind of fantasy has never really been my kind of thing, so I didn't watch the other two. Not saying they are bad films, just not my cuppa.

Back to The Lovely Bones. I didn't care about how and why she was in limbo because I've seen enough stuff like that. The spirit who can't let go because her loved on is down there. Because she is framed and justice hasn't been served. It feels like I've been through this many times before. On the other hand, I thought the family-trying-to-move-on part was interesting, and wanted more of that. The thing is, the movie juggles way too much than it can handle, so everything falls smack on its own face.

When I said I couldnt agree with the ending, I was talking about (SPOILERS!!!) how the other sister refused to produce the evidence she found to her parents or the cops. I know she didn't want to because her mom was back and dad had finally learned to let go and she didn't want this to change again, but c'mon, letting a murderer go, that's just wrong.

Actually, I can relate to that.

If a sister of mine got murdered, and then I had to watch my family disintegrate, i would have made the same choice.

She is still a kid, and her family is her world...

IIRC, she did produce the evidence. Then the cops raided Stanley Tucci's house, but he'd already fled.
