Well if it isnt intentional, then Sommers has had a good slice of luck that it turned out cartoonish. The movie wouldnt have worked otherwise. I have a hard time believing it wasn't intentional though, especially the underwater scenes. The explosions, the colours all point to it being intentional, at least to me.

Agreed, G.I. Joe certainly reminded me of a Saturday morning cartoon, which I certainly enjoyed.

30 Days of Night (BD)

Wow! What a great movie!!

Great story. Fantastic description of vampire (vampire are NOT DROP DEAD GORGEOUS creatures [i.e. Interview with the Vampire, TWILIGHT *Groan*] to "die" for [no pun intended] but vicious BLOOD DRINKING creatures of the night!!)

I really have NOTHING negative to say about this movie, great cast, great direction and great sets!

PQ and AQ is good on BD

Interesting to see Ben Foster (he plays Archangel in X-Men 3 also am looking forward to Pandorum which is being marketed as Horror in Space [like the original Alien] where he plays the lead) in this playing a REALLY weird character.

Ending is a little unpredictable and for the romantics out there, please make sure there are tissues handy.

As a horror movie, I give this a 4/5 stars

I thought 30 days was a very weak movie. Some of the scenes were good but there were lots of plotholes (i can't remember them now though tongue.gif )

Potholes like roads in Malaysia?? tongue.gif

U must at least accept that as a vampire story, is it kinda unique (i.e. NOT Twillight, True Blood, Angel and Interview with a Vampire-ish)

Also, the ending was touching!? No? nod.gif

The ending was alright i thought. Cliched though. A unique vampire story will be like the swedish movie Let The Right One In, you should watch that.

re: 30 Days of Night and Let the Right One In. I agree with makakeke on both counts, and I thought the ending to 30 Days, well, sucked. tongue.gif

I cant remember much about the movie, there are a few bright spots I think, but overall I didnt like it.

P/S: everything is readily available in malaysia... through the interweb. laugh.gif

>I thought the ending to 30 Days, well, sucked

I won't hold THAT against you, especially since you had shown me how to resurrect my deader then door nail thread (Horror Movies)

Ya mean like download the stuff and then burn it to dvd, store it on harddisk and thumbdrive and then watch it on PC or TV thru Mediaplayer.

I've got LOTS of stuff already, you want to to complicate my life with EVEN more stuff?? biggrin.gif

Actually am toying with the idea of getting a media player... But haven't decided on which machine.

Already got ALOT of DVD and Blu-Ray, not so sure if I want to go there...

Though getting stuff that is NOT readily available is somewhat attractive...

Are you trying to "poison" me!! Seriously!!! smile.gif

Watchmen Director's Cut (BD, 2009)

This is one of my ALL time favourite Graphic Novel.

When I first read this (1991) I was like OMG, superheroes were dropping like flies. It was NEVER done. And the theme is so... adult (rape, murder, MASSACRE!!) I mean, who does that in a comic book!! (Alan Moore does)

When I first caught wiff of this movie, I was both ecstatic and afraid. Ecstatic because Zack Snyder is directing it (I'm mean this guy brought Frank Miller's 300 alive, which both made me giddy with pleasure and horror [made killing so "beautiful"]) and afraid because of my love for the original material.

I watched in the cinema (Pavillion, THX cinema, the first day it was shown) and when the Comedian was thrown out of his apartment window, I was like, WOW, it is just like the comic book! Every single thing that was memorable about the comic book was on screen. I was puzzle by why Dr Manhattan's private bit was blurred and when I watched in again on BD, it DAWNED on me it was because of the cencorship board!! tongue.gif

And when I watched the last frame of the movie, still GIDDY from the experience, I heard something that cause me alarm!!?! A patron of the cinema behind me said, "Tak tahu apa benda dia buat!!"!

It hit me, not many people in Malaysia would understand the full extend of the movie. It is NOT their faulty that they don't know much about American History in the 1960 - 1980s. Most of them were either a baby or were not even born yet... A cold chill swept through me... will this masterpiece bomb at the box office.... And indeed it did not do as well as it's director and producers had hoped for especially with all it's legal problems it had faced!

The PQ and AQ of the movie is FANTASTIC! All the painful detail Zack Snyder took to recreate the comic world is very apparent (rigth down to Mr Manhattan's pee pee tongue.gif)

I don't really know how to recommend this movie, because of it's weight! (i.e. the above mention history knowledge)

It is a masterpiece nevertheless!

My two sens worth.

watched it too...
would agree with u that the movie was kinda predictable...
but unexpected scenes deserve at least some credits though...
as for the ending part, its not the killer(Cass's bf)...its actually Garrett(if i spelled it correctly)...look at his cut wrist...

n btw, Megan's sister Maggie is definitely hot at the end of the show drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif

star trek - fun flick but wtf with the overdose of lens flare. gets tiresome and hella annoying fast. and pls jj use a vulcan tripod when filming ppl talking. it gets better after the bar scene. didn't really notice them in the cinema probably tgv's shitty projection but viewing at home its pretty obvious. love:
the planet of the apes score homage during the first scene.
the beastie boys' sabotage-yeah i'm tom cruise, i'm a vulcan maverick scene.
the chinese influenced vulcan theme song.

tf2 egypt scene - from shanghai skip to the forest skip to egypt at break neck speed. honestly you don't out miss alot. hey, home viewing is not that confusing but still can't make out which robot is which and devastator is hella shitty.
megfox is eye candy
bumblebee badass fight and even manage to debone a dog/wolf type of robot

Mov_freak, you gotta be somewhere around 25-35 who gets all fire up for the mistreatment of a former icon of her generation. we'll always have bettlejuice, heathers, edward scissorshand, and prob i'm pushing it...reality bites.

its a cameo. if she's in there a bit longer then she'll be as annoying as you know what. INCONCEIVABLE!
