My area got good 5g reception. If I use cheap 2nd 5g phone, would it make sense? Anyone tried this option long term before?

Use case:
Connect smart TV
Connect smart vacuum
Connect zigbee smart home devices
No wired ethernet required
Total devices around 4-5
*
can phone hotspot supports so many connections at the same time ??

Connect your phone to an ASUS router with USB port they can support USB tethering

But ideally just buy a 5G router, they are cheap these days and less hassle

nice price 👍🏻

that's why i always say, if x50-5g with 3 years official warranty, can lock band, featured with x62 modem, below rm600; why bother with grey market 5g modem routers. last time not much choices, x50-5g was sold at around rm1k and grey market modem router around rm700-rm1k.

user posted image

of course if u have certain needs that x50-5g doesn't have, then only consider other options.

btw, nx200 can get at rm462 on last sales.

Tp link Deco X50 5g AX3000 still good now? I'm looking for modem to plug and play prepaid SIM card for hotspot use. Maybe umobile 5g, yes 5g or unifi bebas whatever is cheaper and good connection.

Lock band feature would be nice also.

What is the difference between deco x50 and archer ax3000?

take note that many ppl reported that 5G speed now dropped to 2xxmbps compared to 500mbps last time due to congestion now.

Ok. Is this modem still recommended? Or is it better to get archer ax1800?

Curious to hear about this too.

Anyone knows the difference between the X50-5G and the NX510v?

I believe the X50-5G is using the Qualcomm X62 but can't find any info on the chipset on the NX510v. The quoted max speed is the same for both at 3.4Gbps so it could possibly be the same chipset too.

Also heard that the NX510v interface has more controls/options. Not a priority but good to have. Also unsure if the X50-5G allows band selection/locking with its more consumer oriented interface?

I don't know so much about the technical difference between the 2 but I have NX510v. It is on archer platform, not Deco, so it can't work with other Deco mesh devices if you want to in the future.

It is also not supported by the Deco app, instead you need to use the Aginet app or the web portal (a good thing if you don't like to use the app).

But not sure is the NX510V discontinued or not - the download center doesn't have any firmware uploaded anymore and there has been no new firmware releases for a long time.

Don't need the Deco mesh system at all (living in a tiny studio apartment lol). It's just that the X50 seems more common for whatever reason. Would also prefer the NX510v's web portal for setup etc instead of an app

Btw are you all using from a landed property or a condo? If condo, how is the signal strength?

Currently using a Zyxel NR5103E from the ~18th floor (condo is at elevated ground) and I have to place the modem sideways to get around 150-250Mbps and regularly adjust the angle/position to maintain those speeds. When I tested at the lobby it can get around 300-450Mbps. Don't mind the slower speeds since that's a given compromise for using 5G @ relatively high floors but would appreciate a more stable connection too.

Edit: Just found out there is also a higher end Deco model, the X80-5G which not only has faster WiFi speeds but double the LTE/5G antennas (X80: 8x antennas; X50: 4x antennas) which should help with signal strength.
X80-5G vs X-50-5G

Hii sifuusss,
I am new to this whole simcard modem thingy and planning to buy one soon. The main thing I really want is a device that can change the public IP address easily and fast. If it can also:

-Change the IMEI

-Bypass hotspot quota

-MIFI would be a huge plus.

Not too sure which models are good. any recommendations would be super appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance

Is it true that huawei h122-373 and all other Huawei 5G modem only support data sim plan and don't work with prepaid sim data?
If yes, which 5G modem can use with prepaid sim card and lock to 5G

Currently using prepaid sim data hotspot no issue in the old huawei b618 4g+
