If the account is under the previous owner's name and the electric bill has been disconnected. One can have a new account open and a new meter replaced. TNB will go after the original account holder. I know because I was a previous owner who sold 1 office lot but did not terminate the account. The new owner rented it to the mamak store and at 5K I had it disconnected but still did not terminate thinking that the Mamak store would pay before I closed the account. Guess what it was secretly reconnected, years later I received a court writ, I had to pay RM15K to TNB. The account was already terminated and the current tenant is using a different account.

1) disconnect at 5k
2) mamak secretly reconnect and use 10k?
3) tnb chase u for 15k
4) new owner no impact since mamak already reconnect
