if the account is under previous owner,.. then the bill should be bear by previous owner,.. new owner shouldn't bear previous owner debt,... if the account is under tenant name,.. then TNB should chase tenant,..

Owner or tenant still the same. The billing is tied to the premise address and lot number.

That's why don't simply buy lelong properties as it may came with bill shock surprises.

I know someone who bought a condo unit in the lelong market received a bill shock of over 50k in MC maintenance bills.

TNB frontdesk already said the same thing. Owner or tenant still the same status. If got outstanding, either party just settle first then only can resume connection.

Applies to all la. TNB don't care u master race or not. Hutang must pay. No pay, they potong straight. Don't care if house got elderly, sick or small kids.

Previous owner kena settled. Not new buyer.

Lelong properties usual the owner already bankrupt, so impossible to settle. Sue also useless, also cannot settle.

seriously, TNB just pemalas makan gaji buta......they just refuse to take any legal action on the owner who hutang bill, instead they will expect new owner to settle hutang which is easier n less hassle for TNB

U know why? Easy job. Less hassle to sue the previous owner or tenant.

Any property to avoid is former show unit or sales gallery.

My mech bought a formal show unit complete with furnishings and furniture for slightly below the market price. Everything went well including the title transfer.

However, about a year later, he kena slapped with a TNB letter stating the meter was illegally modified and had to pay 11k. The seller denied any mods and since everything already transferred to him, it was no longer their responsibility.

Ended up he had to pay TNB for no mistake of his. Fair or not?
