QUOTE(bst dude @ Nov 22 2007, 11:36 PM) Dammit, i just put in an order for 3870 today with an 8800 gt in my hand.. Am still thinking if i should change the 8800gt for 3870.. Since you've experienced both, mind telling me if its better to change to 3870? My main concern is just for crysis... This post has been edited by eternity86: Nov 23 2007, 12:07 AM |

QUOTE(gengstapo @ Nov 23 2007, 12:00 AM) compared to price, sure GTX still expensive marr i guess ATI was focusing on the price/performance ratio...but what ive been thinking are about ATi newest tech also aint much improve as GTX still stand strong and there's more: QUOTE ATI Set to Launch Offensive with ATI Radeon HD 3000 Pricing. ATI Radeon HD 3000 Has Enough Pricing Flexibility - Sources ATI, graphics product group of Advanced Micro Devices, may lower the pricing of its ATI Radeon HD 3000-series graphics processing units (GPUs) in weeks after the introduction in an attempt to recapture the lost market share from the No. 1 discrete GPU supplier Nvidia Corp. The decision will allow add-in board manufacturers to decrease the prices to end-users. "Two weeks after the launch, the ATI RV670 drops the price," a source familiar with the matter told X-bit labs. The ATI Radeon HD 3850 with 256MB of GDDR3 memory begins at $179 manufactured suggested retail price (MSRP) and the ATI Radeon HD 3870 with 512MB GDDR4 memory from $219 MSRP, available from AMD's selected graphics products partners. Unfortunately, not all suppliers of graphics cards could get the new boards on time from AMD. Price reduction of the already not very expensive ATI Radeon HD 3800-series boards is likely to help AMD to capture attention of many end-users seeking for a new high-performance graphics cards for Christmas. Since the new lineup of graphics solutions support both DirectX 10.1 and high-definition video playback, the features demanded by end-users this year, the novelties truly have chances to become popular this holiday season. Quad CF.. isnt that overkill?
Not really beneficial to increase the number of cards.. performance doesnt scale as much Black Edition and OEM same? |

well i still felt 3870 a good beat for now if the price is lower to the 8800GT, the stock cooler is way much better compare to nvidia.....
hope they released some bios flashing tools soon for their 3870.......seems to still some room for improvement just by flashing the bios... |

QUOTE(dk999 @ Nov 23 2007, 05:45 PM) Quad CF.. isnt that overkill? Overkill? For normal usage, yeah. But for people who really needs to run at uber resolution, it is needed i guess. Not really beneficial to increase the number of cards.. performance doesnt scale as much Black Edition and OEM same? Black Edition has unlocked multiplier as compared to OEM which is not.. |
