Big difference mate. I was on 8600GT as well Go Tomshardware or Anandtech. Those two are enough to leave an impression (or otherwise) on you First time using ATI...not completely sold on the better IQ thing yet, but my HIS HD3870 hasn't disappoint me so far...except the fan thing, which I knew from the start before I bought it.

My suggestion though...wait for R680 to come out.

Nvidia always pwn ATI,

but

look at the dark side.... we r better in many things.......

the first DX 10.1 = ATI

the first quad GC setup = ATI

i dont think quad gc is from ati...coz i do remember bout middle of last year nvidia brag bout their 7950gx2 quad sli...

use ur 8600gt for a while ler bro..

dump your nVidia, get HD3850/HD3870 instead... it's lower power usage, runs cooler, more silent made the card is pretty good in its class

ok, used to have HD2900XT 1GB gDDR4, i must say, it's the best (for me), but the power consumption, the heat generated not to mention not too sexy looking cooler made me trade with ^666^ with his new HD3870 which is like i said in previous post... performance hit? of course i'm getting slower than HD2900XT, but still... it's better from other side

Yeah...and if you can't afford R680...there will be a lot of people that may sell their HD3870 to get the R680. I may be one of them... So, you can get a month old HD3870 for very cheap. It's also OC and stressed tested for you

my 3870 loves AA 8X...when i was playing CoH im getting better framerate compared to AA 4X/AA 2X
