normal laptop can't beat the weight and size of EEEPC. that's the EEEPC selling point.

guy... noob here..
just checking a few things.. anybody really successfully tried XPlite without error message popping out? I am noob in wondows so alteration with the files might be a bad idea. Especially one file missing, alert message keep on appearing.. another thing about the open office. Can anybody tell me the difference between open office and Microsoft office 97 in terms of usage and space? are they compatible especially spreadsheet macro, auto calculations and formulars....... to be frank i am thinking of going for XPlite but not daring yet... My aim is to reduce space usage. thank you.... |

my knowledge about xplite is low but i have some idea of it after some reading.. n im not an eee pc user
http://www.eeeguides.com/ u could use this guide for revision.... the purpose of nlite is to significantly shrink the total install size of the OS by removing unwanted stuffs that you wouldnt need. such as included drivers (standard drivers that comes with the XP), unused utilities (defragment wont be useful as the size of eeepc's storage is too small) , standard games, and so on.. you can also add additional installers to the nlite..such EEE pc drivers (since you have removed the standard drivers) or any other softwares.. please read through the guide as it is very2 useful not only for eeepc but also any other pc's or laptop.. xandros uses much less space than XP... why are considering to change? if it was me, ill change to XP even though the space usage is more because most of the softwares that im using is windows based and im not familiar with Linux.. i could extend the space by buying an external hdd cause it is cheap now compared to a few years back.. Eee pc + 2.5 inch external HDD is still mobile enough to bring around right? This post has been edited by huh?: Apr 19 2008, 01:14 PM |
