I have 2 sim card both from U Mobile, Postpaid 38 and UHome5G.
The findings i have to narrow down testing with X50 5G modem swapping sim card in between:

Postpaid 38 is uncapped able to reach 300Mbps (120GB quota limit) + hotspot enabled.
While UHome5G always hovering around 100Mbps. (1TB quota limit)

Bare in mind both sim card FUP utilisation not yet exceed limit.
The modem is fine and not faulty, i suspect is the provider speed capped my UHome 5G sim card.

Interesting... I was thinking the other way around. I thought smartphone plan would be throttle on the router instead. Location?

Im getting 500Mbps these day, up from 300Mbps on the lousy ZTE router that I modded with 2 fans and still hang regardless. Im so satisfied with the X50 5G that I bought another one for my office.

BTW, what is the firmware you are running on the X50 5G?

My location around Equine, Seri Kembangan side nearby.
My X50 5G modem firmware already up to date (official firmware update directly the modem itself via Deco app).

Did you set specific configuration on your X50 5G modem?

Nothing specific but I did downgrade from 1.20 to 1.15 because a lot are complaining about high cpu usage.

Hello everyone. I've just subscribed to U Home 5G and received a Huawei Brovi H153-381. However, the WiFi signal is too weak for my house

I'm currently deciding whether I should add a mesh system, upgrade to a better WiFi router, or use a WiFi extender

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated notworthy.gif

if u can run ethernet cable for mesh system backhaul, u might want to check this out:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5517091

if only can run wireless mesh system then look for tri-band products.

Does anyone have any experiences with network instability during heavy rain? I had the WAN connection fail during some heavy rains in Puchong last week - once it even happened after the rain stopped

heavy water droplets can interfere with radio frequency. anybody study in this field will know. if the rain include thunderstorm, it may affect transmission tower and it may go down. your probably get connected to other tower which is further from you.

I’m planning to place my 5G modem router on the 2nd floor, with two mesh units (one on the 1st floor and another on the ground floor)

Thank you for the recommendation notworthy.gif

might as well just buy the 3-pack bundle, each floor one. don't use the 5g modem built-in wifi at all.

in my case, i just use an extra wifi router. wifi5 is sufficient for me. i put my 5g modem at the best signal location. then i connect both with cat6 Ethernet cable. my house just 2-storey with 36 x 65 feet area. i put the wifi router at the center of the house. even wifi 5gzh still can get signal at each point of my house. there is no speed issue. no need wifi6. wifi6 not meant for speed. if we just use for internet, wifi5 still relevant. you are not transferring huge files over wifi.

I just plug a cable from the Huawei to my existing router+mesh node.. done. But mine is an old Asus RT-AC86U , still more powerful than any free router you get from telco. If I were you I would get a cheap 3 node mesh like this one. During lazada sales can get it below 300 bucks.

Don’t be fooled thinking WiFi 6 is better than WiFi 5. A powerful WiFi 5 router will best a crappy WiFi 6 router anytime.

This Huawei CPE is extremely stable *touch wood*
And U Mobile speeds faster than Yes 5G consistently under same conditions.

Thank you all for the excellent recommendations. I’ve learnt a great deal and will definitely take a closer look at the 3-pack bundle mesh especially the one introduced by @Jason notworthy.gif
