RM700 to RM900 can get a decent one already but DNB Ericsson equipment really has serious compatibility issues with China based chipsets such as Huawei Balong, ZTE and Unisoc.
Those more expensive modems use wither SD or Mediatek that's why they have better compatibility.

YES also restricts speeds to around 120Mbps on their 5G on average. Their network very high ping rate.

Best we get a cheaper modem for time being to future proof investment. Wait for 2nd 5G network to use Huawei equipment for better compatibility with China based chipsets.

I got 450Mbps on Yes5G that also signal is crap. Ping is 19.

I am new to 5g, does rain = no 5g? seem to drop signal from 5 bar to 1 bar, 300mbps to 30mbps?

suddenly Astro ads ring a bell, while Astro used to have no signal during rain.
Now 5g turn to die while raining.
*
yes rain can effect the signal.

How to ensure the 5G modem/ router are compatible with DNB's 5G - those that haven't *diakarkan*.

I already have Huawei B618 (4G only) and thinking of upgrading to a newer 5G modem/ router with this new U Home 5G plan.
*
Stick with 4G first. 5G when more stable and widely use.

Because i’m frequent outstation to penang and KL.

So it has true unlimited? Or will have FUP of 1TB?
Difference between the umobile rm68 postpaid package?

I am quite impressed with 5G speed. So far i got YES 5G Power 35 used at at my office although didn’t have 5G coverage yet. 100GB data quota, hotspot quota takes from main data quota.

Then i have unifi 5G postpaid 65 used in my ipad pro M1 12.9 5G. 60GB data quota + hotspot quota 10GB only though.
If use hotspot with my laptop, that 10GB is definitely not enough for work  doh.gif

I’m more of a future proof guy. Don’t mind spending some money to use for years to come.

Appreciate your inputs guys.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Be careful when you insert the sim. Wrong entry can spoil easily. This kind of setup is super hot. Can fried the board so pandai pandai.
When hot 5G become 3G speed.

The 5G CPE I bought from 'Taobao' not hot liked what you stated; touch on the casing, feel warm only.
Btw, I power daily starting 7.00am and power off at around 10.30pm. About 1 weeks plus it operated that way.

My 5G AX with temperature monitoring. Both CPU and board with temperature monitoring. The heat sink is super big that also it throttle

For those planning to buy a 5G modem, the TP-Link Deco X50-5G will be a great choice and it's coming soon

I borrowed a unit from TP-Link to test and it's amazing. It's using Qualcomm 5G modem so performance is guaranteed.

They didnt' tell me the exact price but they said it's cheaper than those grey import sellers and you also get 3 years warranty.

Edit: I was wondering why it can sustain high speed continuously. Then I decided to open it and found a fan inside.

Ada fan boleh jalan. Tak ada fan waiting to burn.

Let it run! Has 1-year warranty to claim incase break down. If it can run for 3 years, I think it is also time to buy new one with newer technologies, e.g. WIFI 7 or LIWFI.
The one I bought from Taobao, run every day 16 hours. I shut down daily to get rid of radio wave at night for good sleep.

Btw, most chips are designed to operate below 100 Celsius without any issues. The drawback is throttling will happened if operation temperature exceeds 80 Celsius.
*
You only feel throttling when gamming. For normal use you will not feel it. Claim very susah one. Mine 55c already throttling.

Guys.
Why not just buy a 5g phone then hotspot it to a wifi router?
Wouldn't it be cheaper?

Your phone fried first. Too hot and battery consuming.

Thanks. Thinking of making the jump to 5G but I don't like the current design of most modems - cylindrical lol. This a bit more squarish and to my liking. Also a bit cheaper than X50.

mikrotik Chateau 5AX not cheap but can upgrade the LTE card later or modify

Mobile network ping will always high
But, 5g promise improvement over ping, but for SA likely
Gaming depends on upload efficiency, not download
So ping is upload related instead of download
*
My LTE ping is 20-22
My 5G ping is 17-19

Tower is about 100meters
