i read on Umobile FB group few days ago, one user said Umobile is officially launch update firmwares for both MC888s and the KAON routers.

one guy commented, so far after update, his MC888s getting faster speed and more stable, less auto reboot.

you guys got try update the FW? let me know how is the experience, especially if no more auto reboot problem.

A few days back, noticed my connection speed was lagging, today did a speed test and sure enough D/L was only around 80-90Mbps U/L 40Mbps. Strangely, the LED connection showed that my connection is 5G. Did a speed test on my hp and I consistently managed to get D/L speed average 450Mbps. My Deco X50 all set to auto before this, so I decided to change settings manually:-

- select carrier option manually to Umobile
- Ticked frequency band B1, B3, B7, B8, B28 and N78 (5G)
- Cell lock option to 5G and set the SCS (30kHz) NRARFCN (627360) an PCI (456)

Now did speed test, manage to get average 480Mbps, but when I revert to Auto, LED status remain 5G connection but speed dropped to 80-90Mbps again... pening rclxub.gif

Just did an update this morning. My MC888s speed didnt see any significant speed increment. Dont have any reboot problem before except when the weather really hot tho so cant say for sure.

Just to add up, my 5ghz wifi connection went missing after the firmware update. So need to somehow apply it back

Hi. Need help. I’m currently using ZTE MU5120 with U Home 5G without any issue.

Yesterday bought a U Mobile prepaid sim and subscribed to the unlimited plan with unlimited hotpot. But when I put the sim inside the modem, it can’t connect. Does it mean for prepaid sim cannot use with modem? Only U Home 5G plan can?

However during activation and use the free 1GB data, it works (to try). After quota finished, and I subscribed to the unlimited plan, it doesn’t work anymore.

Please help.

well, prepaid unlimited plans are for phone usage only. umobile probably blocks unlimited plan usage if it detects that modem is used instead of phone.

U Mobile block prepaid sim card plan use with modem
U mobile sim card so advance one
With phone all good, put inside a few modem just show no sim card, or invalid sim card
The solutions is hotspot tethering with phone + RM5 unlimited hotspot

Other telcos don't have this kind of blocking feature but if the sim is used in a modem, it will detect as hotspot usage and deducts hotspot quota (if available).

it's not the sim card, it's the telco doing IMEI lock

Thanks for the info. almost pulled the trigger for a ZTE MC888s, thinking a prepaid card could connect to it.

i tot if u want to lock it at always 5g, no need to choose B1, B3 & B7 anymore, no?

anyway, I'm using olax g5018 & I just select B28 + N78 only. so far so good, always on 5g & never dropped to 4g.

Sometimes I bring the modem to my weekend house where the 5g coverage is patchy, so just need to enable both 5g and 4g connection since connection setting is set to manual
