Always curious about these new gen EV cars :
1. Is there difference in RCB/MCCB 40amps vs 63amps aside from charging speed? i assume its like mobilephone fast vs normal charging 2. So far how is resale value / depreciation like compare to non EV ? Retail vs sell price 3. if more people buy EV, meaning charging bays at malls /public places will be unavailable most of time? 4. I heard the fast charging areas in petrol stations are available, but the usage price is not cheap vs petrol ? 5. Also heard that EV battery should not charge above 80% to preserve the life and reduce degradation ? 6. The own charger/cables at public places 3pin plug, can be stolen easily i assume (example pic below from TS) ? 7. saw roadshow for ATTO3 in 1utama, what is difference between STANDARD (rm150K) vs EXTENDED (rm168K)? 8. any discounts or freebies given during purchase ? ![]() This post has been edited by gaijin: Jun 19 2023, 11:23 AM |

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Jun 19 2023, 10:53 AM) i'm not into EV until that in depth yet so i'm asking It is maintenance free if brushless motor. Think of your ceiling or standing fan. Since when we ever need to do maintenance for thosebecause i notice nobody talked about it and everybody thought all EVs are really maintenance free...just inspection only padahal there are things owners need to be watchful about but at the same time...they say that BMW design made the accelerator pedal feels more natural instead of the usual weird EV pedal feeling like i said it really depends on your usage of course, if possible always get the highest one instead of the lowest one MR_alien liked this post

QUOTE(I-Kurosaki @ Jun 19 2023, 07:50 AM) is it true BYD owners have higher tendency to ajak drag race at traffic light? Actually BYD drag race at traffic light is the worse, the throttle response is not instant, a myvi confirm will smoke it the first few meters upon green light coz u know how sensitive myvi throttle pedal is. But yes manage to do 0-100 in around 7seconds-ishJokes aside, how's the acceleration from zero? What kind of car comes close (to its acceleration trait)? Also not mentioned if yours is SR or ER, but looks like ER from the rims. Range given is 420km based on WLTP. If you have measured, what would be the energy consumption or total range for different speed range, i.e. at 90km/hr, 110km/hr, 130km/hr and 150km/hr? What's your current view on the DC chargers availability, reliability, user experience and cost for outstation travel, and especially north of KL like KL-PNG? From observation, KL-JHR route has relatively higher number of DC chargers, and severely lack of charging facilities for interstate travel considering the number of EVs on the road. It is ER, I have not measured the consumption but I was told anything above 120km/h really drains the battery badly KL - JHR no problem, to Penang theres no charger in between KL and Tapah, after that there is Simpang Pulai but its too expensive at rm4/minute, to east coast definitely lacking charger, but still possible to arrive in kuantan without charging lah or just 10 minutes stop at Gambang. But its not possible to use Gua Musang QUOTE(DarkNite @ Jun 19 2023, 07:57 AM) Have to wait next year coz my mileage very low oneQUOTE(MegaCanonF @ Jun 19 2023, 07:58 AM) nice read. thanks for sharing . I have a couple of questions TS 1. No, the charging cable is locked to the car when charging1. when left charging, is it possible for theft ? how is the security of the car 2. you will consider using this car until when? 3. how is the service centre/ maintenance experience? 2. 10 years 3. From other owners they say no issues, done quite fast since actually nothing to be serviced, just inspection QUOTE(LemonHoneyIce @ Jun 19 2023, 08:11 AM) So far is it difficult for you to find charging port in the city? Or usually able to drive whole day till night time only charge? In KL very2 easy to find charge port. Just download the app called Plugshare to see where is the nearest charging location, but for me no use lah all those charge port since can just go back home to chargeAnd also the risk of people tampering the charging using 3 pin like you show above, feel not so safe. That's my concern of EV currently cuz the facilities still very new and scarce If using 3 pin the cable will still lock to the car when charging, but theres a possibility someone turn off the switch lah QUOTE(damonlbs @ Jun 19 2023, 08:11 AM) Already mentioned, rm1.2k for installation only |

Kasi like for a quality thread. Look like EV is setup to be a viable second car for day to day drive within the city, provided the house can install the charging port. Would love to see the feedback after 2-3 years I think that's the time we really know if EV can really be the future in Malaysia. Boy96 liked this post

Would love to see the feedback after 2-3 years I think that's the time we really know if EV can really be the future in Malaysia. Chicken and egg situation. TS pun mentioned currently EV charging bays aren't that packed because EVs are still rare. Infrastructure providers may wait for more demand before investing, would-be users pulak wait for more charging infrastructure before buying EVs. So it's only a viable option for those with spare cars for outstation trips. |

Bro, why you no buy Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6?
I am planning to buy those EV cars with at least 800V charging architecture. BYD, Tesla, BMW, Merc & etc all are using typical 400V. 800V means FASTER DC charging time compare to 400V. Example, Hyundai Ioniq 5 can do ~18mins from 20-80% compare to others. Others might take ~30mins or so. 18mins for me is quite fast for DC fast charging an EV car. But i scare the roadtax EV after 2025. Will wait and see how gov going to revise the price. If EV cars will use EMISSION TAX and will be much cheaper than my current honda city hybrid 1.5 RM90 per year, shadap and take my money already. But nice sharing by the way & enjoy your EV experience. Hybrid > all Honda > all |

Are you hitting the maximum tier even without the EV charging? Yes, before ev charging my bill already rm500±QUOTE(knwong @ Jun 19 2023, 08:54 AM) Nope, for BYD they are using regular tyres, not an EV specific tyres, and as of now the size 215/55/18 still no EV tyres produced for itQUOTE(andrekua2 @ Jun 19 2023, 08:58 AM) Brake need servicing?
