Hai guys, lama tak buka tered pasal kereta. As some u know, I sold my old Suprima earlier. And had it replaced with an EV.

Why EV/BYD Atto 3?

- Want something with similar characteristic as Suprima, big boot space, huge rear legroom, must have many features such as pano roof, AEB, lane keep, adaptive cruise etc etc

- Need to be powerful (over 160hp) yet with minimal maintenance

- I dont have any kampung to balik to, so no range anxiety, even if need to go for that maybe twice a year out of KL trips, can take other car

- To carry stuffs when needed, other cars at home boot too small to fit large item

user posted image

- Looked at competitors:

Honda HRV : 140k car with Honda City Interior, seats too firm, boot too small and CVT puik. Honda CRV: Too old

Mazda CX-30 : Cramped interior, Boot too small

Peugeot 3008/VW Tiguan : Not much features to play with, no adaptive cruise control, AEB etc etc

Ora Good Cat: Boot too small, slow charging.

CHARGING, How much does it cost?

- Over a month, I only driven 1535km

user posted image
And here is my home energy usage

user posted image

Roughly RM 120++ for 1500km distance, this I set my wallbox charging app to count using TNB highest block electricity tariff. I also charge outside when I go mall to makan, charging outside is free, only pay for parking.

My fav is Sunway Velocity and Wangsa Walk

Sounds cheap right? Actually is not, because to upgrade my house electricity (RCB/MCCB from 40amps to 63amps) since my house was from the 80's cost RM3.5k, the wallbox itself is free from BYD, but installation cost is Rm1.2k.

Where is the furthest you've ever driven it?

- Not far, furthest is from home to KLIA then straight to Seremban. then pusing2 seremban town. around  140-150km.. Battery left 70%

- Stayed at Royale Chulan Seremban, they allow 3 pin charging there. So plug in at night, next day checkout battery already fully charged, again... Free of Charge

So yeah, this is my experience with EV now. Feel free to ask anything in regards to EV or even the car itself. Ill answer it truthfully, unbiased based on my personal POV.

So total Installation is rm3.5k upgrade + rm1.2k wallbox = rm4.7k ?

If charging EV car in mall, u not afraid that those itchy hands pull away your charger? Then when u was about to collect your car, u see that ur car already stop charging
*
Nope, the charger is locked to the car when the car is locked

QUOTE(gaijin @ Jun 19 2023, 11:19 AM)
Always curious about these new gen EV cars :  blush.gif
1. Is there difference in RCB/MCCB 40amps vs 63amps aside from charging speed? i assume its like mobilephone fast vs normal charging
2. So far how is resale value / depreciation like compare to non EV ? Retail vs sell price
3. if more people buy EV, meaning charging bays at malls /public places will be unavailable most of time?
4. I heard the fast charging areas in petrol stations are available, but the usage price is not cheap vs petrol ?
5. Also heard that EV battery should not charge above 80% to preserve the life and reduce degradation ?
6. The own charger/cables at public places 3pin plug, can be stolen easily i assume (example pic below from TS) ?
7. saw roadshow for ATTO3 in 1utama, what is difference between STANDARD (rm150K) vs EXTENDED (rm168K)?
8. any discounts or freebies given during purchase ?

blush.gif

*
1. 40 amps definitely cannot because the charger already using 32amps, u only have 8 amps left to power your house, thats why need 63 amps

2. Dont have that data yet, there is a used 2019 nissan leaf for sale for rm90k, new car that time cost around 150-160k iinm? But the leaf is a very inferior EV that tends to overheat its batteries since theres a design flaw which it doesnt have enough cooling.

3. Chicken and egg situation, but for now more and more chargers is being installed as more ev's are on the road

4. Correct, fast charging in Malaysia is expensive, almost Singapore price. So its actually cheaper to fast charge in Singapore than in Malaysia. So no more funny humping action from Singaporeans when they charge in Malaysia

5. That is recommended for NCM battery EV, for BYD and other EV with LFP chemistry batteries, can charge to 100% everytime no problem.

6. The 3 pin can be turned off and unplugged, but the car is locked so the cable is also locked to the car so no chance of theft

7. Can refer to BYD website, main difference is battery size, fast charging speed, power boot, pm2.5 air purifier, wireless charging, RGB ambient lighting, rim size, number of speaker. The rest all the same

8. Free V2L cable and wallbox. No diskaun.

QUOTE(ycs @ Jun 19 2023, 11:31 AM)
how's the L2 auto driving compared to x50? can it keep centered in lane, turn corners well
*
Dont know never tried proton one before. Its just ok2 lah, not very accurate like tesla autopilot or volvo one

QUOTE(Zaryl @ Jun 19 2023, 11:33 AM)
Bro, why you no buy Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6?

*
Obviously the cost lol, the base/middle spec ioniq5 is not worth the price, the top spec is over budget at 300k++ already

Btw the korean use regular ncm battery which means cannot charge to 100% everytime like the BYD Blade LFP battery

QUOTE(Left4Dead2 @ Jun 19 2023, 12:42 PM)

*
Yes. I just checked its rm1.3k actually. But usually newer homes no need the 3.5k upgrade

user posted image

I install it thru Sime Darby company installer. Mine they gave the 22kW 5 meter cable, but its rm1.3k because house is single phase, if 3 phaae house then its rm1.7k to install

1. How long do you intend to keep the EV before selling?
2. Insurance include perils coverage?
3. What is this house amp? Is normal 3 phase enough? Cannot use existing electric setup?
4. How long does it take to charge? Looks like cost is half of petrol.
5. Does charging time affect your schedule? Need to hunt for EV bays? Need to queue? Since you mentioned need to sleep in car. Do you have dependents/running errands?
6. How much does battery replacement cost?
7. Battery degradation <5 years for Thailand in a year? That is steep really.
8. How much is the service cost? How much does the major service cost? Average cost of service for 200k km mileage? For me it is RM1.1K average until 200k km.

Looking at the car budget there, you could actually get a fairly recent used sorento/sportage diesel. But then used car la. First time using diesel, I like it.

Like you, I am an ex suprima owner 2013. Sold 2017 for RM42K. Bought a Kia Sorento UM diesel. 7 seat SUV. My fuel cost is half of suprima. Full tank Euro 5 diesel RM140. I get 750km in town. I refuel full tank every 6 weeks town driving. I drive everyday, though the distance is about 20+km. Long distance, I get 900+ km. If I stick to speed limit and like 90 km, can pass 1000 km range. I have to do long distance balik Kampung few times a year. Kota Bharu - Batu Pahat/Kuala Pilah. Only half tank used. Suprima, need to refuel halfway.  Since I am in Kota Bharu, there are only 2 free public charging stations in KB. Nothing anywhere else in Kelantan. EV for my case will not work, unless distance exceeds 1000km due to the long distance travel. Also this is my only car. Good all rounder.
*
After 6 years, any plans to change your Sorento?

For this ah, actually 400km city drive very hard to achieve. Maybe 300+ can lah, really have to drive like a granny to obtain 400km

From the BYD owners manual

Fully charging the vehicle is
recommended at a regular basis (at least
once a week), and fully charge it from a
low battery (<10% SOC) once every three
to six months.

Maybe can try once la to experience. But i still prefer to take petrol car there because i have no patience to stick to the speed limit on highway. The BYD top speed is already less than what my usual petrol car average highway cruising speed is

So far nope, but i have a habit to plug in at home back to full when the car reaches 50-60%
I like the interior, very insta story friendly haha
Yes, I was given a free 22kW wallbox, despite the car and my house only support single phase. Which means in the future if I want to upgrade to 3 phase car/house wiring, can use back same wallbox

If have to buy the charger cost around rm4-6k
Yup, but for now Im not willing to change my driving style and trouble myself along the highway, coz the other car im already used to driving 160km/h average all the way yet still able to get around 700km+ for a full tank. Definitely not possible on current EV's
Unique color, other color very common on other cars on the road

Many stop to charge for convenience purpose like go makan or prayers. 10-15 mins top up for additional 150km or so

Anyways do join the myevoc fb group if you haven’t.

initially wanted to trade in Ativa for Atto 3

but wife heavily disagree with it because of interior not to her liking

then see Ora Cat..okay2 but boot space similar to Ativa so mcm not worth the change

so now need to wait n see Omoda EV end of this year, she fond the design ICE Omoda 5.

hopefully it pass wife expectation.

Good to know TS change to EV and lucky you stayed Landed hence can do the wallbox, i stay at low cost highrise so less chances to install any wallbox.

Hopefully the ministry that is currently drafting the guideline for installing charger at highrise make it done quicker, many condos management still waiting for the new guidelines
