first things first ... frame slider or any other protective matter on the bike. If you're a first timer pls get use to the bike before full throttling or taking sharp corners fast and if possible change to a better performance tyre. icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(kucinggemok @ Jun 11 2012, 06:16 AM)
For the purpose of knowledge, I would like to ask below questions :

1. What is the purpose of lubricating your bike chain?
Chain is made of metal. Sprockets are made of metal. Imagine if both are dry, Spinning at several hundred times per minute. grinding each other. Soon, your sprocket "holes" will become bigger, and the chain will become thinner.

When the sprockets holes are bigger i.e. too deep, there is more room for the chain to slack. You can read up on chain slack.
So do lube up to make sure the chain and sprockets are nice and slippery for smoother function.

2. When do you lube your chain? e.g. per 100 KM
Recommened once every 500km. Once every 3000 km, clean the chain thoroughly using chain cleaner. diesel also can. (not petrol). Then relube

3. How do you determine with your naked eyes, that the chain is to be lubricated? (Same as Q2. Hehe)
Cant really "feel" it, coz if its dirty you put your finger there also you will get black fingers. haha

4. What brand do you use? - I use Motorex Chain Lube, my friend suggest Silkolene
Currently trying Bel Ray BlueTac chain lube.

5. How do you lube your chain?
Put bike on paddock stand. Put a cardboard sheet behind the chain so that the chain spray wont touch the tires. Spray as you turn the wheel.

6. Is there any difference between a standard chain and a D.I.D gold chain ?
Not sure

Thanks! biggrin.gif

not too sure, but not that fast either

around 80-90 km/h

it's a classic tank slap, the front wheel wobble intiated by lousy road surface in sarawak

and on that particular road, it was my 1st time on that bike on that particular road stretch. i drove on that road using cars many times previously and do know the road is uneven, but never thought that it's THAT bad.

luckily didn't panic and just let the bike go, quickly got on my knees and run to the road shoulder

the bike slid another 30 to 50m or so (yes, THAT FAR!) with sparks flying off as the crankcase cover kiss the sweet tarmac.

luckily i was able to lift the bike at one go. i had experience before when i need a few minutes and several tries to lift the bike when it fell.

i can say i am just one damn lucky bastard

1. the bike didn't fall into the very large earth drain (a few feet away)
2. the traffic managed to slow down and stop behind me (w/o any further accidents)

total damage, initial estimates (official pricelist for ER6-n 2012 parts not yet out):

1. original handle bar : rm 200
2. original gear lever : rm 100
3. bikini fairing : rm 250
4. bits & pieces (exlcuding the tank cover) : rm 100
total : RM 650

the tank i'm gonna touch it up a bit and be a thropy and reminder to me self

the crank case cover - need to sand down, smooth it a bit, and just spray

scratched foot pegs and bar ends, clutch lever - all the small things, gonna ignore it

Based on current rate, stock 06 R1 shall be around USD6k-6.5k.

Say for brand new, 2010 R1 is around USD16k and USD18.5k for SE model. No LE and still no 2012 model liao..

There are few unit unsold brand new 2010 ZX10 for only USD12-13k. SS1000RR 2012 is around USD21k and latest RC8R for USD23k. I went to honda for new 1000CBR and they quote me around USD19k.

All price +/- excluding insurance and registration. Need to add about USD1.5k for OTR.

97 RON is only RM.085/liter shakehead.gif
*
hmph judging by that, i believe my place is a lil cheaper laugh.gif

a 08 rabbit ~US$8k

09 Gixxer ~US$7k

09 R6 ~US$7.5k

lesser european bikes like the SS1000RR (my super dream bike drool.gif ) there's ducati around thou..

say for the whole new 2012 ZX10R, US$15k quoted here..

ur OTR price is so damn expensive gosh, here bikes doesnt need insurance, registration cost $50 lol.. road tax for >250cc bike, u wont believe how much it is hahaha... $2 cool2.gif

fuel is expensive here 97 RON ~US$1.40, oil prices fluctuates here according to global fuel prices..
