i`ll say, dont go for it. If u are worried about maintenance, dont play with superbike.

anyway, my Blade 650 need around RM200 for each periodic maintenance.

same for my ER6F

hrm, if you're afraid of the falling bit (jatuh bodoh, not jatuh accident) then you might want to get something cheaper (in between)

its very easy to ride bro, no worries.

is ninja250R is a superbike ar..or can say begineer supersports bike? compare to Aprillia RS250 .my favourite bike .hehe lightpower to weight ratio.sweet high pitching sound more higher more nice.
*
no its not.
you see, the 250R was made to look like a sports bike. Nothing wrong with that.
But its still a 2 cylinder 250cc with a very casual riding position.
I dont have pictures but if you look at the power band and torque graph you will see that this bike is meant for city riding/confort/easy to use power.

This bike is not actually new, its one of the latest in the ZZR family. It had many names all over the world,
Ex250, GPZ 250, ZZR 250

But rest assured, its not a superbike.

Alot of people argue what actually is a superbike.
in summary, superbikes are:

1. bikes that are for racing ONLY and MUST have a road version.
2. if 2 cylinder (850-1200 cc) if 4 cylinder (750-1000 cc)
3. must be 4 stroke engine.

example,
a Yamaha R1 is a road bike. You can modify it extremely and put it into the superbike category (take out silencer, take out lights, take out mirror etc etc)

You know MotoGP? These bikes are not for the road and do not have a road version. They are NOT superbikes because they are considered different. Yamaha M1 is a bike only made for the MotoGP.
Something like F1 racing. F1 car is not the same as Supercar correct or not?

LOL. Dont try to explain what superbike is to others. Because most people simply doesnt want to listen.

In the Europe/USA, superbike is a race bike. Even a 1000cc bike are called "sportsbike" there.

But in racing, "superbike" are a 1000cc bike, "supersport" is 600cc bike. Look at WSBK and our own MSS.

For Malaysian, all loud and look fast bike are a superbike, I always insist on others that my Blade 650 is a "street bike" not a superbike as they always call it.
*
duuude, when one of my friends saw my FZ150i, they asked me , "this one, considered superbike right?"

I really dont know if they were "perli-ing" me or really asking honestly.

just asking how could a bag shop afford to have a ducati as display and whether its real or fake.
*
ok, i go check it out. walk in casually.
No harm asking them if its on sale right?

Haha Later they'll ask me to go to ask Naza World, -___-

Just that, if you go to Naza world in PJ, they also have this small area selling ducati stuff. So chances are its the same ducati franchise in KLCC.

Anyone tried the Z750R?

I have second thoughts when riding naked bikes. My frame is 184cm so I dont know if its suitable or not. Not like can test ride on highway.

from my very short 3 month experience, naked bike doesn't mix well with speed

unless you have a very big windshield installed, which is kind of ugly and defeats the purpose of a naked bike

why not hang out at your fav bike shop and maybe one of the customers will come in with a Z750 and you can ask him kindly to lend his beloved ride for a while...  laugh.gif

Like Lucifah said.... If u go for speed, then Naked bike is not a wise choice.... Once I tried Yamaha V-max.... Force it to around 220 km/h....

Seriously uncomfortable, tiring, & dangerous...... haha biggrin.gif

But styling And normal speed ride comfort is good....

thanks mates.

Makes sense. Speed isnt my thing. I just enjoy quick overtaking and bends.
I also ride in the city alot.

Those riding er6n/f, z750, z1k, can you guys fully put both feet on the ground when on the bike?

Please include your height in your reply too.

smile.gif

I really hate that I can only tiptoe on my R6 despite being at least 175cm.
*
ER6F
touch the ground + knees are bending.
184cm

R6 seat is slightly taller if I'm not mistaken.

QUOTE(qqmeng @ May 31 2012, 08:17 PM)
so basically these 2 are the same, except for the fairing, hence ER6-"f", right?

so am i safe to say tht any naked bike, once it is faired, the problem of the wind resistance will be very much minimize ?

sorry i m a true noob here
*
hi Bro

While its true that the 650F looks more like a supersport (only slightly) the added fairings really dont add much to the aerodynamics of the bike. As some have mentioned here (and speaking from experience as I'm about 184cm) the upright seating of the ER6F really makes it a faired-street bike.

The 650F and 250R are bro and sister, they have the same purposes.
Everyday Ergonomic Riding.
Suitable turning radii for traffic jam scenarios
and good fuel economy.

The naughty naked sister is the 6N. This one probably shines less during highway runs but if 130-140 is what you like doing, it will do it just fine. (strengthen your arms a bit)

Dont worry about the in-line 2 cylinder sounds because once you reach 5000-7000 rpms it still screams like nobody's business (stock exhaust)
Parking the bike maybe you wont be showing off the sound so much. tongue.gif

So I fully support getting either of the ER's. They're really great for beginners.

P/S: Bikes of any kind have crap aerodynamics. Not because of the bike, but because there is a rider on the bike. So really the bigger factor in determining how smooth and fast the bike can go, is its power delivery and those fat tyres.

i was thinking of hitting the highway once a while ... so i thot the fairing might help a lil ....

judging from the way i drive i doubt i ll be happy with 130-140 .... maybe 160km...

so i think i m safe to presume tht ER6-f is a better option for me ya?

seriously, i prefer ER-6n for its "naked" look ... but ER6-f is a lil more practical for me..... i hope.....
*
I liked both. Just that there was no stock of ER6N at the time, and I bought my machine 2nd hand. So thats mine in the pic.

QUOTE(lucifah @ Jun 5 2012, 01:49 PM)
most ppl would be very concerned by the noise from a twin

but you are right. at very high rpm, it still screams, and even with stock exhaust, can still make heads turn

Do you plan to change pipes sometime later? Maybe on my last year of contract I'll change to an LV.

I think I've lost my desire for high speed. Maybe I'm old? just 27 actually.
I started to like motorbikes when I was 7. When I bought (grandmother bought) a diecast model Harley Davidson Fatboy for me.
It was heaven. LOL

Till today, I've always had a thing for cruisers.

If money wasnt an issue, I'd like to try out the 883 series.
But in Malaysia this is just a dream. I actually plan to move elsewhere to settle down with my ma'am. There, prices are pretty much the same as in the US however maintenance is still not cheap.

But by then, my backbone probably wont be happy with an 883. So I might like to try the Super Glide series.

Guess this is best to be in another topic, not in superbike lounge.

QUOTE(kucinggemok @ Jun 11 2012, 06:16 AM)
For the purpose of knowledge, I would like to ask below questions :

1. What is the purpose of lubricating your bike chain?
Chain is made of metal. Sprockets are made of metal. Imagine if both are dry, Spinning at several hundred times per minute. grinding each other. Soon, your sprocket "holes" will become bigger, and the chain will become thinner.

When the sprockets holes are bigger i.e. too deep, there is more room for the chain to slack. You can read up on chain slack.
So do lube up to make sure the chain and sprockets are nice and slippery for smoother function.

2. When do you lube your chain? e.g. per 100 KM
Recommened once every 500km. Once every 3000 km, clean the chain thoroughly using chain cleaner. diesel also can. (not petrol). Then relube

3. How do you determine with your naked eyes, that the chain is to be lubricated? (Same as Q2. Hehe)
Cant really "feel" it, coz if its dirty you put your finger there also you will get black fingers. haha

4. What brand do you use? - I use Motorex Chain Lube, my friend suggest Silkolene
Currently trying Bel Ray BlueTac chain lube.

5. How do you lube your chain?
Put bike on paddock stand. Put a cardboard sheet behind the chain so that the chain spray wont touch the tires. Spray as you turn the wheel.

6. Is there any difference between a standard chain and a D.I.D gold chain ?
Not sure

Thanks! biggrin.gif
