Do apply for a library membership as well. It's 10.90 dollars one-time vs. 40+/year for non-PR.

From 2020 to 2022, when I was stressed, I would go to the library to use the computer and look at newspapers from 50 years ago or today's newspapers.

Before 2020, there were many paper versions of newspapers in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Now, all are accessed on the computer.

I didn't know that. What are the perks?

Although a library is like a lullaby to me, would consider to get some books for the young ones.

Since got PR, take it further... go be a RC or NC member. I joined as NC member when I still had my PR. Help built relationship when you decide to have family here. Improve chances to join popular schools. Since then I've moved on to be CDC District Councilor. Those who serve long long time.. get pangkat like PBM (Datuk equivalent) / BBM (Tan Sri equivalent). If you want rub shoulders with who's who in government, then this is the path you need to choose. For me, I'm more of sleeping member already since my kids have entered their school of choice. I'm just staying around as an observer and once a while, get free tix for NDPs etc. tongue.gif biggrin.gif

If I weren’t applying as a retiree, I might do that… because I quite enjoy interacting with different folks, but I will be a Singaporean in Sydney, so no chance at all…

Just sharing that my PR was recently approved. Letter was dated 6 Feb 2024. I applied on 3 Jul 2023 so I guess it took me around 7 months.

Hi, I'm planning to apply PR and was wondering how to fill-up the Achievement & Innovation part. Any advise?
I read in some other forum, some of them have left it blank.

Have you achieved something? Example a distinguished award like Nobel price or invented something? Usually with these you would easily get a citizen lol

Just leave it blank. That section is meant for those exceptional ones, which will be given a privilege over us.

I wrote bits of my resume/achievements. I guess the key is to throw in lots of jargons so that you look worthy to be PR in the eyes of the ICA officer. biggrin.gif
