Hi anyone have exp sponsoring pr for malaysian wife? I got married few months back and just applied for her, just curious to know the chances. Im a pr

Shes a degree holder and im a master holder but she has 0 work exp in sg, now staying in sg with me looking for job. Also shes malay im chinese, anyone know if malay harder to get pr?

I applied under my wife (citizen). However, I was already employed for 2 months prior to my application.

Your case is similar but different at the same time. I would say the chance would be low given that you're a PR not a citizen, she may need to secure at least a job.

Get her a LTVP .. at least she gets to stay in sg wit you and look for a job.

shes under LTVP now with ploc, but its still so tough looking for a job. Shes an accountant. How long did it take for your approval?

It took me about 4 months .. actually better to go without sponsor. I applied under my wife because we wanted to get a house ASAP. Else I would have applied by myself, which shouldn't be an issue given my niche ..

Account is highly demanded, no? Could easily get into any SME .. MNC on the other hand is harder given the competition, unless she was from an MNC background.

Asking this for opinions if anyone has similar experience. My other who is a Singaporean is currently working in sg and I am based somewhere else. We are planning to register and that she will sponsor me for pr. Realistically what are my chances to get an approval for pr? Or no chance better get ltvp first… hopefully someone went through this before

Try to apply after a year? You guys have to stay together throughout the period to avoid being suspicious of "marriage of convenience", which I was afraid during my application.

Get a job/ltvp first as PR would take some time.

There many factors, race, age, income, education, field. Need to know more to better predict your chances.

If u r both chinese, mid to early 30s, above average income, high demand field. Then u have high chances but will definitely get it after few months working in sg.

No plans for now. Given that my wife and kid are citizens, maybe in the future. Actually there's a CPF plan that can support you for life, if you hit a certain limit by 55. They will pay out that amount until you die. So it is pretty much sustainable in sg.

Generally, when you turn 55, you can withdraw at least $5,000 or any amount in excess after setting aside your Full Retirement Sum (FRS).

If you are born in 1958 and after, when you turn 65, you can withdraw an additional amount of up to 20% of your retirement savings. See more details on the withdrawal rules.
When members reach the age of 65, they can withdraw 20 percent from their 4th account, the Retirement Account, in Singapore's CPF system.

Usually shouldn't be a problem to most given that salary is freaking high for Singaporeans. People around me can easily hit that just by maintaining their current salary (without increment) for 20 years.

Do you means monthly salary remains constant (with no increments) for 20 years, your total CPF contributions (without considering any CPF interest) will match the Full Retirement Sum (FRS) of $205,800 ?

without considering any CPF interest or with consider interest ?

To calculate how many years it will take for your CPF contributions to reach the Basic Retirement Sum (BRS) of $102,900, we need to break this down step by step.

Assumptions:
Monthly salary: $2,500
Total CPF contribution rate: 37% (17% employer + 20% employee)

Monthly CPF contribution amount:
2500 × 37% =925

No withdrawals are made, and no interest is considered for simplicity (actual growth will be faster due to CPF interest).
Calculation:

Annual CPF contribution:

925×12=11,100 SGD

Number of years to reach $102,900:
102,900÷11,100
≈ 9.27 years

102,900÷11,100

If the monthly salary is $2,500, it would take 9.27 years to reach the Basic Retirement Sum with CPF contributions alone.

The cost of living in Singapore is so high!

Haha people around me r easily earning 3 to 5x of that. So, even their salary stays at current. They will still reach that.
