That means you are under coverage. So if your 3g phone shows UMTS/3G . You can use their maxis broadband services.

Hehe....today the maxis employee call me up to remind me that that they are working on the problem even during Raya.(true or not?)
They say Maxis contacting Microsoft to solve the problem.
I told them some customer already bypass the problem by himself and he's on low yat forum.
So they say they will check out low yat forum as well.
Maxis kena pwn by own customer! haha!

you need to configure tor for proxy. I'll post up the guide later. Just point it to the socks server. It should work but its going to be very slow

Hi,
Really appreciate the sharing about the Tor from prasys, can connect to hotmail and msn messenger now.

But using Tor really affecting the connection speed just like prasys mentioned. After around 1/2 an hour, the network will change to gprs. Any way to over come this? Can i use Tor to connect to msn messenger then right after it's connected i shut down the Tor? Will the network stick to hsdpa with this way?

Nope it does not work. Tor must be on. Like I said change the modem to WCDMA only. It works that way. Dont put WCDMA preferred.

Hi to all,

I'm a E220 USB user. A few additional tips to share;

(1) For user staying above 8th floor (mine's 19th), who is experiencing 4-5bars or lower. Do consider getting a 5m USB extention with booster. This will act as a external antenna (remove s/n losses), this is according to a few Huawei E220 signal issue forums I've found (will post them later).

(2) I've successful d/l BT during daytime (from 10K to 50Kbps) almost 80% of the time. I guess the tracker and type of BT plays a part. I've yet to figure this out. The speed-test may be poor but it does not reflect the BT performance. Cannot explain.

To Prasys;
By using TOR for BT, what is your predicted d/l speed? I've tried it, cannot see any diff, not sure if I'm on the right track. Please advice....

It's not your area. Everyone also kena the same s***.
I heard rumours Maxis is gonna overhaul their entire system in the next few weeks, upgrading both their software and hardware.
If after these few weeks still no change, I advise you change to another ISP.

pretty wierd.since they can offer such excellent service for their wired broadband, why can't they do the same for wireless?

double standard?

i've heard the word "upgrade" many times already on wireless, but none when using maxis wired.

Well using tor does boost a little. But during daytime I limit my downloads to 10kB/s. The main reason is not to 'hog' all the bandwidth. If I do that , bam I get disconnected and reconnection takes a long time. So I rekon those who wants to torrent during the daytime , set the download speed around ~10-15kB/s. Otherwise I've noticed my speed would just suck after that .

my guess is maxis's bandwidth is being outnumbered by the subscribers.. i enjoy great speed too during raya, but this morning, crawling again.. anyway, TOR works for me.. i dont have problem with logging in to windows, and MSN, but certain sites just dont load.. now it works..

i m going to stay in kota damansara soon, been amuse by the maxis BB package the one can go up to 3.6mps...

but still worried that it is worst than streamyx....

there is a few reason i option for maxis,

1.i dun need a fix line phone (apply for streamyx need to apply for a land line)

2.streamyx is full for the ports or something in that area....

3. wish to try something different

Well read all the reviews in this thread. That will give you a general idea. Don't get carried away with speeds up to 3.6Mbps. Its only achievable under ideal conditions . In other words , its not possible.

So if you are kaki torrent , you can forget it. Apart from that , there are many drawbacks. If you want to do light surfing feel free to choose maxis. Do keep in mind , connecting to MSN is also impossible at this moment.
