hello !!

mind to post the pics of 5m USB extention with booster ???
im an E220 dude
*
I got this pic of the net but it is the same as the one i'm using (except for the colour),
bear in mind this help to maximize the signal in your area, therefore, it is still
area dependant. U can get it in LowYat.

Is that booster really useful? And how much is it?

Technically it doesn't "boost" the signal, all the 5m extention does is to; (1) enables you to place it at the most strategic area in your house/comdo (2) it also reduce the "human movement" inteference where some estimate to be around 2dBm~4dBm (=1bar signal).

To Cloudstrife07: Do reconsider your plans, as we all been buzzing about here, Maxis is getting there (slowly) but not there yet. I kinda regret that i signed up for the E220 RM138 package instead of getting an aircard w Internet2go package. I heard that there will be a few new WBB ISP by year end. I reckon you should wait and see.... like myself, i can only wait and pray.....

They have fixed MSN connection issue. Kudos , but it only works through port 80 and it still can't establish direct connection to MSN

Forgot to add : The 5m extension should cost around RM85 in LowYat. I reckon it should be a lot cheaper in Lelong.com. Do try....

This is the "so-called" E220 signal helper. It is a pad that connect to an antenna located outdoor. This will help those lack of 3G signal but willing to jump off the building for a single bar of HSDPA (like myself drool.gif )

Are you sure they have fixed MSN issue? So now can you connect without using TOR?

laugh.gif After you see the price of the antenna plus the antenna connector, you will come to the conclusion that you're better off just buying a new datacard with a proper external antenna connector, and buying an antenna for it doh.gif The E220's biggest weakness is its lack of an external antenna port.

Agreed. Therefore, it is an alternative solution to those who is already on board on the E220 18-month ship, taken for a ride of their lifes with Maxis cry.gif . If you can choose, then stick with those without tie-up contract as WBB is still a new in Malaysia.

but then from what me and prasys calculating, it's not worth my money for the 384 package. add RM10 more and u get 640.

willing to be a tester, since my area got so many potential.

Im just move on to Bandar Baru Bangi for "Hari Raya" holiday. Covered with HSDPA but network mode seldom changed from HSDPA - UMTS - EDGE at day light, constant HSDPA at night.
Tested with online gaming, day light - ping get high suddently then go back to normal frequently. At night, ping constant normal

Lord_Destructo , I agree with you. HSDPA is meant for professionals and not meant for Home Broadband. Its meant for those busy businessman who travel up and down the North-South Expressway or who jump one place to another and needs on the go internet connection. For them , they prefer a reliable and somewhat fast Internet Connection. They could not be bothered if the latency is high or low (although some of them do as there are many demanding application which needs low-latency). But then I think HSUPA + HSDPA (I am not sure what its called , HS something something) might replace Home Broadband. For now we are getting there

Maxis is just excited to roll the new technology without researching thoroughly. They might have done their homework but then as you all know our Malaysian Mentality ™..When its stated 3.6Mbps. All of us do expect to get 3.6Mbps

Oh , I can't wait for the 7.2Mbps/14.4Mbps rollout. I know its not possible to achieve that high speed but then who knows...
I think TM Streamyx customer care is much more better then Maxis. At least they listen to you. Maxis loves to do assumptions such as your PC is hit by spyware and I've advised to them to open up certain ports , msn needs a direct connection. Oh well....

the combine of HSDPA and HSUPA is caleed HSPA.......
it has only enhance uplink which u wont feel any diff as u will need more stable downlink as u need to DL thing more thn Up load........
wait for another newerhardware n software to launch soooooon

I am not really intrested in its Downlink speed. I want better uplink and at the same time it improves round trip time from user's terminal to the RAN

QUOTE(Wikipedia)
Latency times of around 20 ms for round trip time from user terminal to RAN, approximately the same as a combined HSDPA/HSUPA system, but much better than "classic" W-CDMA.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSOPA

So if we can combine that , we can get better latency. This will certainly improve the latency for critical demanding applications.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolved_HSPA

Evolved HSPA seems promising. I hope Maxis launches HSUPA and HSPA..If they do , it will certainly boost their Wireless Broadband. Currently they need to focus on HSPA !

Wireless BB will never compensate for wired broadband. When it hits mainstream, speed degradation will likely to occur. Ping rate will never get anything near DSL while fiber annihilates all competition.

Why are Malaysians so enthusiastic about wireless technology I have no idea.

NLOS wireless BB, those who live in Setapak, KL why not consider Streamyx wireless?
BTS is located at TM Bukit Dinding.

http://proxus.com.my/tmnet/wireless_streamyx5.aspx

Equipment is based on mixture of Proxim Orinoco & Motorola Canopy Series.
