Please do not breed them for no good reason.
Breeding is not easy, not fun, and definitely NOT something for inexperienced beginners

If you are thinking about breeding to make money let me tell you that you need to be prepared to spend more than you will earn.
If something goes wrong during birth/pregnancy and you do not provide emergency vet treatment to a hedgehog that is pregnant because YOU wanted her to be, then the blood is literally on your hands, because you killed them.

Alot of things can go wrong, horribly wrong.

My honest advice to you is learn everything you can about how to keep a hedgehog healthy and happy as a pet before you even start to think about anything else.
Welcome to hedgehog corner.

Hehe. Thanks.  biggrin.gif He's just so adorableeee.

Hmm...to toilet train hedgehogs, I just need to keep putting their poop in the litter box right? Do I have to use cat litter or can I just use like paper towels? Thx.

Yep, just keep seeding the litter box with poops and hopefully Oakey will get the idea

Remember to have patience for now because he is still a little baby and babies have poor bladder control (will just poop whenever and wherever they like several time a day)
As he gets older his intestine will lengthen and he will be able to control it better.

Either paper towel or cat litter is fine, I am using paper towel.
But if you choose cat litter be sure to avoid the clumping or clay type, also the crystal type is unsuitable.
You can also use breeders celect in the litter box.

He is incredibly adorable wub.gif , He looks alot like my Demon did as a baby
Take as many pictures as you can because he will grow up in the blink of an eye.

I see, i understand how you feel nod.gif
Its normal for humans to want to put animals together in pairs/families so they can feel happy just like we do when we are with our friends or families
But you must realize that just because you and me feel that way, that does not mean that all creatures feel the same.

Hedgehogs are solitary and territorial. In the wild they will never stay together.
They will meet to mate, then seperate immediately.
If the babies stay too long with the mother the mother will begin to show aggression towards the babies.
They do not get lonely, they do not have any need to be with 'family'
When you put two hedgehogs in the same cage they will feel angry, hostile and stressed.
When they have lots of space, all the food and toys belongs to them alone, they will be comfortable, relaxed and happiest of all.

As strange as it sounds forcing hedgehogs to live together is as cruel as forcing a human to be totally alone

Yeah i used to think the two of them were the same color rclxub.gif
Demon was really super dark as a baby, as he got older became slightly lighter.

Haha alright. Thanks for the advice, will do so. biggrin.gif

When they grow up, their average size is about 6-8 inches long?

Erm...I don't think Oakey's snowflake. Think he's purely salt and pepper. Or am I wrong? Haha. I'm not that good yet at differentiating the colors.

I had tried both water bottle and bowl... both got their advantage n disadvantage xD

if using bowl.... it's good for them as they can easily drink the water as they eat.. but in my experience... Ken tend to made the bowl full wif bedding -.-" which means I have to control and have to change the water few times a day.. if not that stupid fella wont have to drink till i change the water lol

if using water bottle.... easier.. just fill in water and hang on the side of the cage.. let them drink themself.. clean and no need to change the water few times a day but they have to bend their neck to drink the water... and.. at midnite.. the sound when he drink from the water bottle really annoyed me -.-"

I choose water bottle cuz I went out early morning and back at evening... if use bowl.. when my stupid boy filled the bowl wif bedding.. he will stay thirsty till I'm back.. xD

Please do not breed the pokimon if you do not know their background. I do not want to see a pokimon suffers in the end. Hao had to make the worst decision to put Pickle and Lucy to sleep because of the disease. Both suffered from paralyze and he wouldn't want them to suffer till their last breath. So for you who wish to breed your pokimon, please take this into consideration.

p/s: May both of you (Pickle & Lucy) RIP... Hope both of you are happy at the rainbow bridge.

yes indeed, if there's anyone who's looking forward to breed hedgehogs, you must make sure that both the parents are of the highest quality and do not show any symptoms of incurable diseases. there's no point in breeding if you get low quality offsprings, this will do more harm than good, the new owners who buy from you will have poor quality hedgehogs, and who knows if he/she plans to breed those?

but i guess most people aren't very aware of the consequences, so perhaps every now and then we will get some friendly reminders here in lyn's hedgehog forum...smile.gif
