haha... midvalley? lol
He told me he's gonna went there to deliver the baby.. hehe
mine still dun let me touch him.. T.T
but he's kinda sniff sniff my hand... but when i try to touch him -.-"
his quill all came out....
*
Yep, midvalley smile.gif
Try picking him up by putting one hand on each side of him and slowly bringing ur hands together (like your trying to scoop up water), eventually he will step up on your hands then u can pick him up, carefull not to terkepit his legs tho but if you do it slowly shouldnt be a problem

Hi Vincent
If your sure its just a flesh wound and hes acting normally then probably there is no need to take him to the vet, however he may have some injury inside to the muscle/bone etc depending on how he managed to get that scratch, just keep a close eye on him and how hes moving around if you decide not to take him
what kind of wheel are you using btw?

Dont think they will bite themselves till they bleed, ?_?
anyways sounds like he will be just fine : )

on a side note my baby hog seems to have taught himself to use the litter pan i provided for him @_@
i knew they can be trained to do this but i didnt expect him to do it straight away!
hes been pooping in the pan since i got him 2 days ago
last night i moved it to another corner (tangan gatal)
and when i woke up this morning all the poop was in the original corner where the pan was before i moved it ><
he had even dragged the paper towel i line the pan with to cover his poop
so cute...of course i moved the pan back...i shouldnt have moved it elsewhere in the first place *smacks forehead*

here are some pics of the hog on my bf's facebook page
still shopping for a SAFE wheel, prolly gonna have to make one

Not sure when i will be bathing mine, altho he seems relaxed and comfortable (exept when i first wake him up, grumpy laugh.gif)
Think i will wait another full week at LEAST to make sure hes fully adjusted with his new home before thinking about giving him a bath.

Question
Im guessing warm water is best for bathtime?

Toothbrushes are the best.... but I use a dish brush ahaahh. Big and easy.
*
Haha! dishbrush, awesome
I bought a teeny tiny soft bristle toothbrush with a rubber coated handle since i was scared anything else would hurt the hedgie, looks like i was being overly paranoid? laugh.gif New mom, what to do.

I also got a small bottle of no more tears baby shampoo since i was unsure if the shampoo i use for my cats was suitable , and plan to look around for some organic oatmeal for oatmeal baths anyone know a good type?

Cimredopyh, thank for the link...very informative....

Np smile.gif that FAQ covers alot of what you will need to know before buying a hedgie, and also consistent with info from other sources

QUOTE
Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo with wheatgerm. laugh.gif

Ohhh i see laugh.gif, Well thats good, wheatgerm is one of the best sources of vitamin E

QUOTE
There are plenty of organic and safe shampoos for sale for dogs and cats, just you need to know where to find and get the money.... coz normally 1 bottle is like rm30 over or RM40 over.

Anything less than RM 100 is still ok tongue.gif (working with no financial commitments)
however i was thinking of organic oatmeal the edible type, what you do is soak it like ur making tea then strain the water to remove all the oatmeal and then bathe the hedgie with it, supposed to be very comforting and soothing esp during quilling (read about it on Chins&Quills forum)

QUOTE
ol lenglui, you really did your research too well biggrin.gif. seems like demon's doing well there. you manja him too much hahahah smile.gif. im proud to see you guys post new and lots of pics of your hedgie. Keep them coming k! wink.gif

Dont think you can 'cure' the bald spot laugh.gif
You can only cure the CAUSE of the bald spot,
then the missing quills will grow back by themselves eventually

Soooooo.. i bathed demon and he didnt enjoy it

What i did was i filled a container with about 1 inch of warm water and slowly lower him into it, he freaked out and kept trying to get out ,eventually he got out and once he figured out how to get out there was no keeping him in.

So i tried the sink, he couldnt get out of course but he was trying to climb the sloping side so frantically that he tipped over backwards doh.gif he was ok but i got worried so i took him out

In the end i just let him wander on the bathroom floor and followed him around slowly pouring water over him bit by bit from a small bucket sweat.gif

then i wrapped him in one of his liners and put him on the bed till he was dry and put him back in his house, poor guy

so yes, i probably need a container with higher sides

i also noticed he smelled like alot like a wet dog before he dried laugh.gif

The smell is come from belly there, try rub rub your hedgehog belly by using hand when give your hedgehog bath biggrin.gif. Not 100% those smell will gone but at least can low down the smell abit.
*

Ohh i see, isnt that where his boy bits are? tongue.gif

Muchan, when he figures out how to play with the wheel there will be plenty of 'evidence' in the morning laugh.gif

Lil'Maine dont worry, its normal for your hedgie to be afraid in the beggining. Be patient with her and she will come to trust you wub.gif After you let her smell your hand, try to slowly touch her from the side or front so she can see your hand, avoid surprising her from the back. If you want to pick her up try slowly scooping her up with one hand on each side (like scooping water) as you bring your hands together she will eventually step on your hands. You can even pick her up this way when shes all spiky biggrin.gif
whatever you do dont use glove to pick her up as she needs to get used to your smell

Speaking of smell i notice Demon is happier to see/smell me when i just come home from work and play with him straight away but hes cautious of me when i play with him after i bathe. I think he does not like the smell of my shower gel blink.gif

Have you named her yet?
