If you don't mind buying from Taobao and wait few weeks using sea shipping via agent to avoid SST for best price-performance, I would recommend the assembled 3-Mode VTER Galaxy80Pro for RM203-RM216 excluding shipping depending on your color choice. It's basically an upgraded version of EPOMAKER x Feker Galaxy80 (VTER galaxy80) which you could find lots of video on Youtube.

CODE
Gasket Full Aluminum Case (1.71KG on spec sheet but I suspect it's a little more since my parcel weight is 2.26kg)
3-Mode (Wired, Bluetooth, 2.4G)
RGB Hotswap PCB, Supports 3-Pin/5-Pin Switches
4000mAh capacity battery
MDA profile doubleshot PBT keycaps
Acrylic nameplate on the back
Electrostatic spray coating with glitter that I personally prefer over anodized as it's more scratch resistant

The switches included aren't quiet, but you can just swap them out with the quiet switches of your choice and resell the original switches. There's a 3-Mode barebone kit version of the board for RM176 but it's only available in light green. For only around RM30 more, you get switches and keycaps.

If the green board matches your aesthetic, you could save the trouble of selling and swapping out the switches if you go with this option. It looks great with certain tones of keycaps, look at the photos biggrin.gif

https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?_u=820asbo...d=779264280336&

There might be other recommendations if you have other requirements such as needing a volume knob, screen or don't mind only having wired connection.

I would guess the ping I notice got exaggerated due to the location I place it on the board. It was just ngam that I put it at the corner of the top mounted board, the ping was so noticeable vs when it was in the alphas. After that I just check each switch very close to my ears and detected 5pcs that has very clear ping.

a good observation. i think lubing might minimize these effects.

it's mass-produced stuff. unless there are serious qc before sale, there will be lemons in what we received.

luckily almost all parts in a mkb are fixable.

I prefer to get locally.. at least if anything's up you can check with the local vendors.

Take a look at these, plenty of selections and you can try them out in their shops in KL.

I'm wondering if anyone tried having their boards refinish/cerakoted here?

Any pros locally?

Thanks for the suggestions guys (respect) due to the urgency of having a keyboard I ended up with a keychron K8 Pro from a local seller at slightly over RM300 during lazada sales , so far felt satisfied with it.

I saw in discord and FB that they are people that have sent for cerokated. It is around RM400 to RM500 for 1 color if not mistaken.

I only tried re-anodizing back in 2014, called so many spots and asked around. The whole thing cost less than RM40, basically u tumpang their other large orders, I waited a week for the color I went with.

Not sure if they still do this, I think a few people went there last time after my recommendation.

It's finally here after few days, scared me when I notice the box looking a little rough. They replaced the switches for top spec Rainy75 with these new custom Kailh switches that have the same MX Cream stem as BCP switch.

Yep they are from Taobao for around RM350. Since I can't wait to get my hands on it, I opt for air instead of sea shipping. It's within 3kg which cost RM59 inclusive of potential tax.

IINM the stem and bottom housing is identical, it's slightly lighter and smoother.

IDK how I feel about this MDA set

Just wanted to share:

1. The actual method I did to straighten a spacebar that I mentioned previously.

Taping it to one side of the Alu bar, can see clear that there is a slight bending of spacebar
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Taped both side and bake it in the oven at 80'C for about 20mins. After that let it cool at room temperature until it reaches room temp.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The results after removing the tape. Done this for both PBT and ABS spacebar using the same method. Total done about 8 spacebars if not mistaken.

2. I have also purchased a "milmax" socket equivalent from taobao to make the Hiney H88c into hotswap.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The Hiney PCB was already soldered with switches. Had to desoldered it, and further using the copper wick to clean the PTH so that the socket can fit into the hole.
For the hotswap socket, the grip to the switch was fine and the price was significantly cheaper vs the milmax socket.

Switch leg in the hotswap socket under microscope.

I was thinking of using the caps with the HE board, I even got a red knob but then I sold the board.

Even the base spec is like 420+ on Shopee, top spec is like 500+. I think you could get it a bit lower with 10% cashback.

Sea shipping is definitely the way to go, be prepared to wait a long time though.

My order is still on the way, items reached the warehouse on June 11 and 12 left the port yesterday while June 8 items departed on June 16.

Based on the estimation, it should take 5 days to reach Malaysia.
