Thanks for all the inputs. Applied online on Monday night and paid. Then Tuesday early morning went to Putrajaya branch for collection. The front counter asked if already got the email confirmation, and as I haven't got the email yet, she asked to take a number for the photo taking counter. Waited for about 15 minutes for my number to be called, and 5 minutes to complete the process. Then waited for close to 1 hour to collect the passport. In total less than 2 hours if applied online beforehand, and within 12 hours from my online submission until passport collection.

BTW I also submitted for my parents online last night (to skip the que even though it's shorter for senior citizens). This morning got the email on the fingerprint problem for both of them. I put the collection center at UTC since I was planning to do the collection on this Sunday.
My question - for this case (applied online but fingerprint problem), do I need to go there to que early in the morning? Or can just drop by anytime and they will have a separate que to handle these type of cases? Thanks |

Successfully renewed my passport. Just walked in. No prior online application.
![]() Went on a weekday. Lots of empty parking at 7.10am. Saw nobody. But upon reaching Level 2, about 30 ppl in the queue. Everyone in same q - warga emas, online application, passport collection, etc. No mention about walk-in. They opened at 8am. We got our nombor giliran and a small form each to fill up. I just told the officer I wanted to renew passport, so she asked if got bring old passport? Yes ok then 👌. All 7 counters were opened. Counter 8 and 9 for passport collection. Counter 11 for making payments. ![]() First hour, everything was efficient. Out of 7 counters, 2 were opened for elderly ppl and families with young children. Then not long after that, only 1 counter left to man other general applicants. To take photo, thumbprint. In short.. Waited less than 2 hours for my turn to take photo, thumbprint. Make payment. Then another 45 minutes to collect the new passport. For warga emas, much faster. It took less than an hour to be attended, and made payment. To wait for new passport, another 45 minutes to wait. For me - I avoided to do online renewal because of so many complaints about loading photo, etc. Prefer to just walk in and wait. Going there early is not a problem. Roads clear, no traffic jam, plenty of parking spaces. Just remember to wear dark clothes (for photo), know your height (when filling up the form), bring your old passport and mykad. They will return your old passport after cutting the edge. Check all details in new passport before leaving. |

Give Jabatan Imgresen Kajang a shot. Hassle-free for my spouse & I last Saturday.Arrived at 7:00am - long queue but we followed what reviewers shared in Google Map. Instead of joining the queue we waited at the photo/stationery job opposite (Jia Jia Photo Express). The owner came and opened up at 7:30am. Told him we wanted to take photo for passport renewal and have him upload for us. He did that in less than 5 mins. He paid using his credit card and we reimbursed him with cash. All in RM220 - RM200 for the renewal fees, RM15 for the passport size photos (also gives you printed copies) & RM5 service fee. Worth that RM20. He printed the receipts for us and told us to go over to the Immigration Dept office immediately. FOLLOW his instructions. There's no hanky panky, no corrupt stuff, don't worry. We got our renewed passports in 3 hours from the time we took our photos till we left the Immigration Dept office. Pretty good, I'd say. And the personnel at Kajang Immigration Dept were helpful and courteous. That helped reduce the stress - damn too many kids running around that day. Oh yes - remember to bring along your expired/soon-to-expire passport. Without that, balik rumah. This post has been edited by cwyap: Nov 14 2023, 01:49 PM |

Do not go to Passport Office at Pejabat Imigresen KLIA.
I went all the way there last Monday to find it closed. The closure was announced in their FB (i didn't check earlier), no official announcement on their website. Reason? Technical problems. Ok they didn't mention when would open again. The next day, they announced.... not going to open until Friday. 🤷♀️ Technical/system problem?? Well, they are supposed to open from Mondays to Fridays, weekends closed. Actually the week earlier, they closed on Wednesday. Only to reopen on Thursday and Friday before closing one whole week. |
