The senior citizen queue is only for senior citizens doing walk in renewals, as well as children below 12.

There was a lady that is 60 but her birthday is December, so still 59++ years old. She was told by the officer to go to the normal queue because she's not a senior citizen yet.

Forgot to share experience of renewing my passport that expired nearly 2 years ago.

1) Submitted online renewal as per usual, as if passport not expired.
2) Followed all the steps and rules that they laid out.
3) Took photo from my local photoshop, not even pro quality. Just typical RM15 quality type of photo, poorly cropped, face smoothen like a cibai.
4) Uploaded photo, did some slight cropping beforehand in photoshop and everything was accepted without issues.
5) Paid online, printed receipt, went to Duta Imi to collect after 3 working days.
6) Arrived at 11pm, took number, after 15 minutes was called, give old expired passport + IC and after another 20 minutes was given new passport.
7) Went to publika was lunch before even lunch hour started lmao.


All the horror stories was putting me off in renewing passport all this while, but turns out actually pretty good.

Just to update on my experience.

After getting email from imi regarding jari tidak sah, and no option to set appointment, i just went to the UTC i originally chose online.
Went to counter, passed my printed receipt, IC and old passport. they gave me a queue number (separate from normal walk in queue number).
Wait about 10-15 mins, and queue number called. did all the normal stuff at counter, no need take picture. Then told me wait for collection counter. That took about extra 45 mins.
So in the end, about 1.5 hour at the office la I guess.

all in all, i'd say better to submit online instead of walk in if you're not senior citizen, cos the queue is cibai even on normal workday. Nasib baik my online queue is separate. I didn't have to queue early, just go at 10am when road no jam.

For photo submission, i just use my normal ipong. Applied 3.5x5 scale crop using photochop, and apply layer mask so the background is all white. #cheapskate version

Hi, would like to ask about the online passport renewal. Just wondering if it's possible to use back the same photo as in the existing passport? Coz I still have the softcopy of the current photo, but worry that later during the collection they see this and reject the new passport.

Take yourself with back camera. Don’t use selfie.
Don’t use wide angle. If can have 2x or 3x telephoto use that.

Use apps found online to delete background and crop / resize for you.

just submit picture online as long as it pass the check
later at the branch during collection if the picture is rejected they will take your picture on the spot

I did for my aunt 2 weeks ago. Got call them if can submit same photo for renewal. They say cannot. So confirm cannot.

Hi, just to check if you walked in Putrajaya to renew or applied online but went there at 6.20am to collect?

Got an urgent trip next Wednesday, but passport has already expired. Not sure if apply online now can still make it or not. Else if can walk-in then will be safer as I can do it tomorrow morning.

Also if can walk-in, do we still need to bring hardcopy photo? Or just IC + old passport will do? Need to make photocopy of IC/passport?

Hi, u can do walk in putrajaya. Makes sure u make online payment before 4pm. U can collect same day . 2 hour after payment u can collect your passport.just renew last July.

Also besides the ori IC and old passport, do we need to bring also the photocopies? And any other documents needed?

Just bring your ic and old passport and money. Rm200. Please bring extra rm50(Incase, u need pay service took pictures from photo booth).

Don't worry, putrajaya branch is recommended. Rest,hopeless.
