Hi guys, can we actually mix different series of tyre in front and rear wheel?
Let say im having Continental MC7 in front wheel, and planning to change my rear wheel to SC7, is there any concern? It is a RWD car

If your not demanding driver, no issue. But if you always like to drive in corners high speed or speed demon then not recommend. As different tires act differently during emergency (braking), traction & cornering ability. Just imagine when entering in corner high speed and suddenly need emergency braking, if either 1 side of the tires more poor perform you might just loss control.

Hello All,

Just want to share a review on a new set of tires that I've just replaced on one of my cars.

Previously I was using Hankook Ventus Prime 3 on that car. It was a shitty tire as it has poor traction on wet & poor aquaplaning resistance. The experience was dreadful, so dreadful that I can only bear to use it for 16k km.

I've decided to try the fairly new Goodyear Assurance Maxguard SUV tires.

After the first 600 km, my intial review of the tire is that is is outright much much better than the Hankook Ventus Prime 3. Overall, it is has shown significant improvements in all criterias of wet & dry traction, aquaplaning resistance, NVH & comfort.

I'd dare say that it performs similarly to Michelin Primacy 4 (albeit 1 level lower for aquaplaning resistance) that I have on my other car.

Looking for 185/60/15 tires for my VW Polo. Slightly aggressive driving. Higher priority for wet/dry grip.

Looked at Michelin. Only XM2+ seems to have this size. PS3 and Primacy 4 no size.

Any other good recommendation for me? Thanks.

You want PS3 can go for 195/55/R15 size.
I'm ex Polo Sedan owner.

Thanks for giving me a different angle to look at.

Going down that path of using different size, I suppose Primacy 4, 195/60/R15 will also work, with no impact on the speedometer or mileage. Just wider, same diameter. Pricier though.

Is tyres from Michelin China trustable?

I went to a workshop the other day to get a pair of PS3. Guy said they are sourcing from China also?.

There is a slight hesitant for me to go with this as safety is my main concern.

195/60/R15 will be the upper borderline for this upsize, usually Polo/Polo Sedan owner goes for 195/55/R15... Indian Vento group yes I saw they using 195/60 to suits their harsh road condition.

But why you want Primacy 4? Primacy 4 isn't sporty tyre to fit your requirement, more towards comfort but wet handling I heard isn't exceptional as PS series.

goodyear assurance triplemax 2 sudah phased out kah?
wanted to look for it but cant find it..

Seems now for goodyear 195/55/R15 there's duraplus 2 and new one called maxguard that replaces TM2?

So which better between duraplus 2 and maxguard? Any one using either of these 2 share your reviews..

From what i gather:
last time triplemax 2 pros = good dry & wet grip, good comfort, quiet-ish tyres.. cons = not so lasting

Seems now from promotional materials:
duraplus 2 = long lasting + quiet
maxguard = durability + wet grip

I want good grip + good comfort/low noise.. Which the TM2 seems to fit perfectly (idc about lasting cause this is for low mileage car anyway)
Anyone used/knows if the Maxguard which replaces the TM2 is also a quiet-ish tyre? Trying to find more details about this maxguard but their promotional materials never mention anything about being quiet or low noise..

From their chart of TM2 vs Maxguard:
-seems like noise level is relatively the same
-treadwear + wet braking/handling improved a lot
-but dry grip/braking reduced a bit?

I've only used recently Goodyear Assurance Maxguard SUV, which essentially replaces/upgrade from Goodyear Wrangler TripleMax.

After 2k km, I'm very satisfied, elated even with this tyre. It performs comparably to Michelin Primacy 4 except for the aquaplaning resistance (it is slightly inferior).

Price for 235/50R18 was about RM430 per piece instead of RM650 per piece for Michelin Primacy 4.

Theoretically, Goodyear Assurance Maxguard tires should be better than the Assurance Triplemax 2 tires that it replaces, except for slight decrease in the dry braking.

See the price difference, whether if it is worth a try.

For me the best bang for money on SUV tyre size is the Toyo CR1. The tread pattern look normal and not aggressive. But its wet traction better than Continental UC6. And it still quiet at highways speed.

Will jump to Goodyear next once this Toyo finish it life.

Want to ask, any feedback for 15 inch Kumho Ecsta PS31 tires?
How is the noise level and wet braking?

If lets say compared to UC7 (i know is summer tire comparing to UHP tire) how is the noise level? I assume the wet braking shuld be better than UC7 la

PS31 tire is a really old model. It used to be compared to Hankook Ventus Prime 3 back in the day.

Hankook VP3 was considered the better comparison (albeit I really hate this tire for its bad performance).

Conti UC7 is significantly better than Hankook VP3. So expect PS31 to be much worse.
